Vitula Edmandsii
''Vitula edmandsii'', the American wax moth, dried-fruit moth or dried fruit moth, is a species of Pyralidae, snout moth in the genus ''Vitula''. It shares its common name with ''Cadra calidella'', another dried fruit moth. It was described by Alpheus Spring Packard, Packard in 1865. It is found in Germany, Denmark and Fennoscandia, as well Great Britain and eastern North America. The beehive honey moth (ssp. ''serratilineella''), which is found in western North America, is either treated as a full species or as a subspecies of ''Vitula edmandsii''. The wingspan is 20–25 mm. Émile Louis Ragonot (12 October 1843 – 13 October 1895) was a French entomologist. In 1885, he became president of the ''Société entomologique de France''. He named 301 new genera of butterflies and moths, mostly Pyralidae, pyralid moths. He is also the author of several books: * Diagnoses of North American Phycitidae and Galleriidae (1887) published in Paris * Nouveaux genres et espèces de Phycitidae & Galleriidae (1888) * Essai sur une classification des Pyralites (1891-1892) * Monographie des Phycitinae et des Galleriinae. pp. 1–602 In Grand Duke Nicholas Mikhailovich of Russia, N.M. Romanoff. ''Mémoires sur les Lépidoptères''. Tome VIII. N.M. Pyralidae
The Pyralidae, commonly called pyralid moths, snout moths or grass moths, are a family of Lepidoptera in the ditrysian superfamily Pyraloidea. In many (particularly older) classifications, the grass moths (Crambidae) are included in the Pyralidae as a subfamily, making the combined group one of the largest families in the Lepidoptera. The latest review by Eugene G. Munroe and Maria Alma Solis retain the Crambidae as a full family of Pyraloidea. The wingspans for small and medium-sized species are usually between with variable morphological features. It is a diverse group, with more than 6,000 species described worldwide, and more than 600 species in America north of Mexico, comprising the third largest moth family in North America. At least 42 species have been recorded from North Dakota in the subfamilies of Pyralidae. Relationship with humans Most of these small moths are inconspicuous. Many are economically important pests, including waxworms, which are the caterp ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Vitula Biviella
''Vitula biviella'' is a species of snout moth in the genus '' Vitula''. It was described by Zeller in 1848. It is found in most of Europe, except Ireland and the southern part of the Balkan Peninsula. It is only recently present in Great Britain. The first records were noted in 1997 and 1998 from Kent and the species now seems to have established small breeding populations in both Kent and Suffolk. The wingspan is 12–18 mm. Adults are on wing from June to August. The larvae feed on the flowers of ''Pinus A pine is any conifer tree or shrub in the genus ''Pinus'' () of the family Pinaceae.
