Vito is a brand name of Leblanc (musical instrument manufacturer), Leblanc, started in 1951. History Vito is a brand name for Leblanc (musical instrument manufacturer), Leblanc USA, now part of Conn-Selmer USA. The Vito name was used for student through professional (Yanagisawa baritone saxophone) instruments. Leblanc USA was formed in 1946 by Vito Pascucci, and the French woodwind manufacturer, G. Leblanc Cie of France. To meet high demand, Leblanc USA started to manufacture clarinets in the US from plastic bodies and French keys. Eventually all of the parts were made in the US. These student clarinets were named "Vito". Many, if not all, Vito flutes were "stencil" instruments manufactured in Japan by Yamaha. They were roughly the equivalent of a Yamaha YFL-200 series student instrument. Leblanc, Inc. was a musical instruments manufacturing company first established in 19th century France and later based in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The company was a woodwind instrument manufacturer known mainly for its clarinets. In 2004 the firm was sold to Conn-Selmer, a division of Steinway Musical Instruments. As a result, Leblanc ceased to exist as an independent operation, becoming a brand. The company manufactured and distributed a wide range of instruments – self produced or through its subsidiaries and brands– such as clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones and mouthpieces. Conn-Selmer, Inc. is an American manufacturer of musical instruments for concert bands, marching bands and orchestras. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Steinway Musical Instruments and was formed in 2003 by combining the Steinway properties, The Selmer Company and United Musical Instruments. Vito Pascucci
Vito Pascucci (October 22, 1922 – August 18, 2003) was an American businessman, the CEO and co-founder (with Leon Leblanc) of G. Leblanc Corp, an American musical instrument firm based in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The firm started out as the American branch of the French G. Leblanc company. Career Born in Kenosha on October 22, 1922, Pascucci studied trumpet as a child and became interested in instrument repair. His brother Ben owned a music store in which Vito began repairing instruments as a teenager. After being drafted in 1943 he became the repairman for an army band, the 11th AAF Band led by Mark Rubinstein. When that band was disbanded, in order to keep such prominent members from the infantry, Mr Rubinstein suggested to Glenn Miller to take many of his prime musicians. Among them was Vito.
