Viorel Vișan
Viorel Vișan (born 21 January 1952) is a Romanian former footballer and manager. He was mostly known for his spell as a player at Politehnica Timișoara with whom he won the 1979–80 Cupa României, scoring one goal in the final against Steaua București, also helping them eliminate Celtic in the 1980–81 European Cup Winners' Cup. Playing career Vișan was born on 21 January 1952 in Gădăleni, Romania, starting to play football at the youth system of CFR Cluj. He started his senior career during the 1968–69 Divizia B season at the end of which CFR earned promotion to the first division. In the following season, coach Constantin Rădulescu gave him his Divizia A debut on 7 December 1969, while he was aged 17 in ''The Railwaymen's'' 4–2 away loss to Farul Constanța. In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield player whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. 1978–79 UEFA Cup
The 1978–79 UEFA Cup was the eighth season of the UEFA Cup, the third-tier club football competition organised by UEFA. The final was played over two legs at the Red Star Stadium, Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and at the Rheinstadion, Düsseldorf, West Germany. It was won by Borussia Mönchengladbach of West Germany, who defeated Red Star Belgrade of Yugoslavia by an aggregate result of 2–1 to claim their second UEFA Cup title. Red Star Belgrade became the third Yugoslav and second Serbian team to reach a European final, but couldn't defeat the more experienced West German side, who reached their fourth European final out of five in a seven-year span. 1980–81 Cupa României
The 1980–81 Cupa României was the 43rd edition of Romania's most prestigious Association football, football Single-elimination tournament, cup competition. The title was won by CS Universitatea Craiova, Universitatea Craiova against FC Politehnica Timișoara, Politehnica Timişoara. Format The competition is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location.
