Victorian Slum House
''Victorian Slum House'', or ''Victorian Slum'', is a historical reenactment reality television series made by Wall to Wall Media for the BBC in 2016, narrated by Michael Mosley. First broadcast on BBC in the United Kingdom and on PBS in America in May 2017, the narrative centers on families and individuals trying to survive in a recreated slum of the East End of London from the 1860s to 1900s. It has a similar concept to ''The 1900 House'', as well as the same producer. In Australia, the series aired on SBS (Australian TV channel), SBS in July 2017 as ''Michael Mosley: Queen Victoria's Slum'', to avoid possible confusion with the Victoria, Australia, state of Victoria. Historical reenactment (or re-enactment) is an educational entertainment, educational or entertainment activity in which mainly amateur hobbyists and history enthusiasts dress in historical uniforms and follow a plan to recreate aspects of a historical event or period. This may be as narrow as a specific moment from a battle, such as a reenactment of Pickett's Charge presented during the 1913 Gettysburg reunion, or as broad as an entire period, such as Regency reenactment. Slum tourism, poverty tourism, ghetto tourism or trauma tourism is a type of tourism that involves visiting impoverished areas, or in some cases, areas that were affected by disasters, such as nuclear fallout zones like Chernobyl or Fukushima (hence the term "trauma tourism"). Originally focused on the slums and ghettos of London and Manhattan in the 19th century, slum tourism is now prominent in South Africa, India, Brazil, Kenya, and the Philippines. ''Coal House'' is a Welsh television series made by Indus Films for BBC Wales, and broadcast on BBC One Wales, with a subsequent UK wide repeat of both series on BBC Four. Series 1 was set in the depressed economic coalfields of 1927. Series 2 was set in 1944 as World War II draws to a close; it was broadcast on BBC across the UK from October 2009. Plot The series follows three or more families who are placed in a location which replicates the lifestyle of Welsh people living in a coal mining town of that period. British Regency
The Regency era of British history is commonly understood as the years between and 1837, although the official regency for which it is named only spanned the years 1811 to 1820. King George III first suffered debilitating illness in the late 1780s, and relapsed into his final mental illness in 1810. Grant, the Regency reenactment is the fourth in a series of historical reality programs produced by Channel 4, preceded by ''The 1900 House'', '' The 1940s House'', and '' The Edwardian Country House''. The series has a group of unmarried men and women, accompanied by their older female chaperones, assuming the identities of Regency-era individuals from the year 1811. Participants received instruction in the upper class courtship rituals of the time and were charged with seeking out a suitable marriage within the group.
