Vasil Terziev
Vasil Aleksandrov Terziev (; born June 9, 1978) is a Bulgarian politician and businessman who co-founded the multi-million dollar software company Telerik. He is the incumbent Mayor of Sofia after winning the elections on November 5, 2023. Early life Terziev was born in Sofia on June 9, 1978. His parents were officers of the Committee for State Security, while his grandfather was a Communist partisan who later became a State Security general in charge of military counterintelligence. He graduated from the First English Language School, after which he obtained a Business Administration degree from the American University in Bulgaria. This is a chronological list of mayors of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, since that post was established after the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878. The first governor of Sofia was Petr Alabin. Initially, the mayors of Sofia were assigned by the Provisional Russian Administration. After the newly restored Bulgarian state was already functioning on its own, in the end of 1878, mayors were chosen by the municipal council. The First English Language School (FELS, 114th High School "Liliana Dimitrova") was founded in 1958 in Sofia, Bulgaria as a high school for education in English language to Bulgarian students. The school had been located at 60 Dondukov Street since 1960 and shares the building with the 112th Elementary School. FELS became a UNESCO associated school in 1978. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious public high schools in the country. Over 90% of its graduates pursue their higher education in schools and universities in Bulgaria, the EU and the United States. Vanya Rumenova Grigorova (; born 12 September 1978) is a Bulgarian economist, trade unionist, labour activist, and politician. She was an economic counselor to the Confederation of Labour Podkrepa from 2015 to 2023. She unsuccessfully ran for Mayor of Sofia in 2023 and is currently a member of the Sofia City Council. The Bulgarian Resistance () was part of the anti-Axis resistance during World War II. It consisted of armed and unarmed actions of resistance groups against the Wehrmacht forces in Bulgaria and the Tsardom of Bulgaria authorities. It was mainly communist and pro-Soviet Union. Participants in the armed resistance were called ''partizanin'' (a partisan) and ''yatak'' (a helper, or a supporter, someone who provides cover for someone else).
