Valladolid
Valladolid ( ; ) is a Municipalities of Spain, municipality in Spain and the primary seat of government and ''de facto'' capital of the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Castile and León. It is also the capital of the province of Valladolid. It has a population of 300,618 people (2024 est.). The city is located roughly in the centre of the northern half of the Iberian Peninsula's Meseta Central, at the confluence of the Pisuerga River, Pisuerga and Esgueva rivers before they join the Duero, surrounded by winegrowing areas. The area was settled in pre-Roman times by the Celtic Vaccaei people, and then by Ancient Rome, Romans themselves. Valladolid () is a province of northwest Spain, in the central part of the autonomous community of Castile and León. It has a population of 525,398 across a total of 225 municipalities, an area of , meaning a population density of 64.77 people per km2. The capital is the city of Valladolid. It is bordered by the provinces of Zamora, León, Palencia, Burgos, Segovia, Ávila, and Salamanca. It is the only Spanish province surrounded entirely by other provinces of the same autonomous community. It is the only peninsular province which has no mountains. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Assumption (), better known as Valladolid Cathedral, is a Catholic church in Valladolid, Spain. The University of Valladolid is a public university located in the city of Valladolid, Valladolid province, autonomous region of Castile and Leon, Spain. The Valladolid debate (1550–1551 in Spanish ''La Junta de Valladolid'' or ''La Controversia de Valladolid'') was the first moral debate in European history to discuss the rights and treatment of Indigenous people by European colonizers. Held in the Colegio de San Gregorio, in the Spanish city of Valladolid, it was a moral and theological debate about the conquest of the Americas, its justification for the conversion to Catholicism, and more specifically about the relations between the European settlers and the natives of the New World. Jesús Julio Carnero
Jesús Julio Carnero García (born 5 March 1964) is a Spanish People's Party (PP) politician. Born in Aspariegos, Province of Zamora, Castile and León, Carnero graduated in law from the University of Valladolid. Carnero spent 80 days in hospital, of which 61 in intensive care and 35 in a coma, from June 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. He had three near-death experiences from pneumonia during that time. In January 2023, Carnero was chosen as the PP candidate for mayor of Valladolid in the May elections. His party won 11 of 27 seats on the city council, the same as the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) of incumbent mayor Óscar Puente, who received marginally more votes. Iglesia De San Pablo, Valladolid
The Iglesia conventual de San Pablo or San Pablo de Valladolid is a church and former Dominican order, Dominican convent, of Isabelline style, in the city of Valladolid, in Castile and León, Spain. The church was commissioned by Cardinal Juan de Torquemada (Cardinal), Juan de Torquemada between 1445 and 1468. It was subsequently extended and refurbished until 1616. The Plaza Mayor (English: "Town square") is a central plaza in the city of Valladolid, Spain. It is located only a few blocks away from another famous plaza, the . Campo Grande (Valladolid)
The Campo Grande (English: "Large Field") is a large public park located in the heart of the city of Valladolid, Spain. It is triangular, has a 115,000 m² (11.5 ha) surface and is bordered by the streets Acera de Recoletos, Paseo de los Filipinos and Paseo de Zorrilla. Its main entrance is at Plaza de Zorrilla, where together with a modern bill gate lies a floral shield of the city. The park is enclosed around its perimeter by a simple fence that runs between pillars, with entrances on all sides. Compared with the Retiro Park in Madrid, it is 10 times smaller in size (11.5 ha compared to 118), and almost 30 times smaller in size than Central Park in New York City (11.5 ha compared to 341).
