Nordland

Esat Valla (born 22 April 1944) is a Kosovar Albanian painter noted for his figurative paintings of small animals or insects such as butterflies and birds. Life Esat Valla was born on 22 April 1944 in Gjakova, where he attended primary school. In 1965 he graduated from the Secondary School of Art in Peć. In 1971 he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Belgrade (now the University of Arts in Belgrade), where he studied painting under professor Zoran Petrovic. From 1974 he was a member of the Association of Figurative Artists of Kosovo. He has been working at the Faculty of Arts since 1976, where he teaches painting to undergraduates and graduates, with the title of Ordinary Professor at the Universiteti i Prishtinës. Gerd-Liv Valla
Gerd-Liv Valla (born 25 January 1948 in Korgen, Nordland) is a Norwegian former trade union leader, who served as leader of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO). She took over in 2001 (from former leader, Yngve Hågensen) and resigned in 2007 as a result of the so-called Valla affair. In 1997 she briefly served as Norwegian Minister of Justice. Early life Valla grew up on a farm near Bjerka in Hemnes municipality, Nordland. Their father was active in the Norwegian Agrarian Association, and her brother Nils Valla would become a national leader of this organization. Gerd-Liv Valla moved to Hemnesberget to complete her primary education, and to Mo i Rana for upper secondary school. Giorgio Valla (Latin: ''Georgius Valla''; Piacenza 1447–Venice 1500) was an Italian academic, mathematician, philologist and translator. Life He was born in Piacenza in 1447. He was the son of Andrea Valla and Cornelia Corvini. At the age of fifteen Giorgio Valla moved to Milan, where he was educated by the famous Neoplatonic Hellenist Constantine Lascaris. Among his works is a Latin translation of the Hieroglyphica of Horapollo and Aristarchus's ''On the Sizes and Distances'' (1488). The '' De expetendis et fugiendis rebus'' is the most valuable work produced by Valla. He lectured in physics and in medicine at Pavia and Venice. Kristin Valla (born 22 March 1975 in Mo i Rana) is a Norwegian writer and journalist. She now lives in Oslo. Her debut novel, ''Muskat'', has been translated to several languages, including English in 2002. Life and work Kristin Valla was born and brought up in Mo i Rana outside Finneidfjord in Nordland. Lorenzo Valla (; also Latinized as Laurentius; 14071 August 1457) was an Italian Renaissance humanist, rhetorician, educator, scholar, and Catholic priest. He is best known for his historical-critical textual analysis that proved that the ''Donation of Constantine'' was a forgery, therefore attacking and undermining the presumption of temporal power claimed by the papacy. Lorenzo is sometimes seen as a precursor of the Reformation.
