Uttar Pradesh Wizards
The Uttar Pradesh Wizards (abbreviated as UPW) are a field hockey team based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh that plays in the Hockey India League. It is owned by Sahara India Pariwar. Former Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans serves as coach for the team and former Indian captain Dhanraj Pillay acts as the technical director of the team. Franchisee Details Ownership The team is owned by Sahara Adventure Sports Limited, a group company of Sahara India, bought the franchise on 23 July 2012. Sahara India is also the chief sponsor of Hockey India, the top-federation for hockey in India. This was the first franchise of Hockey India League to be bought. Roelant Oltmans
Roelant Wouter Oltmans (born May 25, 1954) is a Dutch field hockey coach who is the current head coach of Kampong first men's team. Earlier he coached the Larensche Mixed Hockey Club men's team. He coached the Netherlands men's, India men's, Pakistan men's , Netherlands women's teams and Malaysia men's team . Career His first major prize was with the Netherlands women's team. He was coach from 1989 to 1993 and was world champion at the 1990 Women's Hockey World Cup in Sydney. In 1993 he moved to the men's team, he won the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics after defeating Spain 3–1 in the final. In 1998 he became world champion with the Netherlands men's team at the 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup in Utrecht. Then Oltmans moved to football. Akashdeep Singh
Akashdeep Singh (born 2 December 1994) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a forward for Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the Hockey India League and the India hockey team. Career Born in Verowal, Tarn Taran, Punjab, Singh started to play hockey in secondary school before joining the Guru Angad Dev Sports Club. He then joined the PAU Hockey Academy in Ludhiana in 2006 before joining the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar. In 2013, Singh was auctioned to the Delhi Waveriders of the Hockey India League. After three seasons with Delhi, Singh was signed by the Uttar Pradesh Wizards for $84,000. International Singh was the captain of the youth India hockey sides and has represented India senior side. Severiano "Seve" Boris van Ass (born 10 April 1992) is a Dutch field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for HGC and the Dutch national team. Chinglensana Singh Kangujam (born 2 December 1991) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a halfback. He made his debut in the Indian team in 2012, and plays for Dabang Mumbai in the Hockey India League.
