William Robert Daly (born William Robert Dailey; October 24, 1872 – 1935) was an actor and director of silent films in the U.S. Early life William Robert Daly was born on October 24, 1872 in Boston, Massachusetts as William Robert Dailey. Career He became a "stage director" at 19 years-old. He directed the 1914 film adaptation of ''Uncle Tom's Cabin'' featuring the first lead role for an African American actor in a feature film for white audiences. Sam Lucas, who had played Uncle Tom in theatrical productions, played the part. Daly portrayed the villain in the 1912 film '' The Kid and the Sleuth''. He worked as a producer with William Selig in 1916. For Selig's 1916 film '' At Piney Ridge'', Daly directed and produced. George Larkin
George Larkin (November 11, 1887 – March 27, 1946) was an American film actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 150 films between 1910 and 1931. He was born and died in New York, New York. He was married to actress Ollie Kirkby. In addition to his acting career, Larkin also wrote scripts with his wife, which include '' Bulldog Courage'' (1922) and '' The Pell Street Mystery'' (1924). Marie Prevost
Marie Prevost (born Marie Bickford Dunn; November 8, 1896 – January 21, 1937) was a Canadian-born film actress. During her 20-year career, she made 121 silent and sound films. Prevost began her career during the silent film era. She was discovered by Mack Sennett who signed her to contract and made her one of his "Bathing Beauties" in the late 1910s. Prevost appeared in dozens of Sennett's short comedy films before moving on to feature-length films for Universal. In 1922, she signed with Warner Bros. where her career flourished as a leading lady. She was a favorite of director Ernst Lubitsch who cast her in three of his comedy films: '' The Marriage Circle'' (1924), '' Three Women'' (1924) and '' Kiss Me Again'' (1925). After being let go by Warner Bros in early 1926, Prevost's career began to decline and she was relegated to secondary roles. George Hernandez I (June 6, 1863 – December 31, 1922) was an American silent film actor. Hernandez was born , in Placerville, California. From late 1897 through May 1899, Hernandez was a traveling Shakespearean actor with the Janet Waldorf Company, appearing in '' As You Like It'' and '' Romeo and Juliet''. Hernandez was a member of the William Nicholas Selig stock company, which pioneered filmmaking in Southern California. Edward Peil Sr
Edward J. Peil Sr. (January 18, 1883 – December 29, 1958) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 370 films between 1913 and 1951. Biography Peil was born in Racine, Wisconsin, one of 10 children of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Pell. He attended Racine High School and the University of Notre Dame, studying dramatics, which led to his acting on stage and later in films. His first film was ''Charley's Aunt'' (1906). He had the lead in the first five-reel film, ''Through Fire to Fortune'' (1910). He also acted in the first film that used artificial illumination outdoors at night, the first three-reel color film, and the first Technicolor film. Peil's wife, Henrietta, was an actress. They were married in 1916 in Wabash, Indiana, while both were touring with the Chicago Majestic Theater Stock Company. Peil died in Hollywood, California.
