Universal Stereo
XHFO-FM is a radio station on 92.1 MHz in Mexico City. The station is owned by Grupo Siete and carries the Radio Disney pop format. History XHFO received its initial concession on November 26, 1964. It was owned by Raymundo Romero Damian. XHFO signed on in 1979 as "Radio Triunfadora", being renamed to "Crystal FM" in 1982, with a contemporary Spanish music format. In 1993, as grupera music began to gain success, the station was lent to Grupo Radio Centro in exchange for XEEST-AM in a relationship that would last 26 years. GRC promptly changed the name and format of XHFO to "Sonido Z" with grupera and regional Mexican music. In 1996 it was renamed "La Z". On December 7, 1998, a format swap occurred between XHFO and XEQR-FM, with XHFO adopting the English classic hits format "Universal Stereo" that had begun in 1974, whereas "La Z" moved to XEQR. XEQ-FM
XEQ-FM is a radio station in Mexico City. Broadcasting on 92.9 FM, XEQ-FM broadcasts grupera music under the name "La Ke Buena" and is the flagship of a network of stations with the same branding and format. The programming on XEQ-FM is also simulcast on Mexico City AM radio station 940 XEQ-AM. History The original concession for XEQ-FM was awarded on April 16, 1957 to Radio Mexicana del Centro, S.A. de C.V. In 1978, XEQ-FM became the first tropical music station in Mexico City under the name "Tropi Q"; others later followed. The format moved to AM in 1993, when XEQ-FM picked up its current name and format of grupera music. The grupera format had previously been on XEX-AM, where it was known as "La Super X". Grupo ACIR is a Mexican media company specializing in the operation of radio stations. It was established in 1965. ACIR is an acronym for ''Asociación de Concesionarios Independientes de Radio'' (Association of Independent Radio Concessionaires). History Grupo ACIR was founded on June 8, 1965, when Francisco Ibarra bought the XEDQ-AM (Radio Alegría) station in San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz. During the next two years, three new radio stations were integrated: XEOM-AM in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, XEMM-AM in Morelia, Michoacán, XEMIA-AM in Guadalajara, Jalisco; and three stations of amplitude modulation in the Mexico City: XEL-AM Radio Capital, XEFR-AM Radio Felicidad and XEVOZ-AM Radio Voz. XHPOP-FM is a radio station on 99.3 FM in Mexico City. The station is owned by Grupo ACIR and airs the company's Match format of contemporary hit radio in English. History After initially being authorized as XEN-FM, a counterpart to XEN-AM 690, XHPOP was on the air by 1977. It initially broadcast an instrumental music format under the name ''Música Feliz 99'' before changing to a hit radio format as ''Sonido 99'' by the end of the decade. Pedro Ferriz de Con (born December 12, 1950) is a Mexican radio and TV news anchor. During the 1990s, he worked for the Multivision Network. In January 2000, he left MVS and went to Grupo Imagen, where he hosted the morning newscast on XEDA-FM until August 25, 2014. He also hosted the evening newscast of Cadenatres from 2007 to 2012. XERC-FM is a radio station in Mexico City. Located on 97.7 MHz, XERC-FM is owned by MVS Radio and airs its grupera format "La Mejor FM". History Radio Hits and Stereo 97 7 XERC-FM signed on in 1974, more than a decade after receiving its concession on July 26, 1963, alongside the two other FM stations built by Radio Centro, and was known as "Radio Hits", airing current music in English. XERED-AM is a radio station in Mexico City. Located on 1110 kHz, XERED-AM is owned by Grupo Radio Centro. 1110 AM is a United States clear-channel frequency. History The concession history for XERED-AM begins with XEFO, a radio station launched on December 30, 1930Enrique E. Sánchez Ruiz, "Orígenes de la radiodifusión en México". Guadalajara: ITESO, 1984 on 940 kHz as the radio station of the National Revolutionary Party (later the PRI). The earliest available concession for XEFO dates to July 1, 1932. Broadcasting on 106.5 MHz, XHDFM-FM is owned by Grupo ACIR and broadcasts contemporary music in English from the 1980s to the present under the name 106.5 MIX. History The concession for 106.5 MHz in Mexico City was awarded in 1964 to México Radio, S.A., for XHMR-FM.
