Ukrainian Shooting Federation
The Ukrainian Shooting Federation ( uk, Федерація стрільби України) is the national governing body for ISSF shooting sport disciplines in Ukraine. History In May 2022 it was reported that two well known athletes had been killed fighting in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. As a Junior, Ivan Bidnyak had medalled at the European Championships in 2005, and had won Ukraine's first shooting quota place to the 2012 Olympic Games. Twenty-one year old Ehor Kihitov was a member of Ukraine's junior team. In November 2022, Federation President Oleg Volkov called on IOC President Thomas Bach to prevent Russian oligarch Vladimir Lisin from standing for re-election as ISSF President at the 70th General Assembly. International Shooting Sport Federation
The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) is the governing body of the Olympic shooting events in rifle, pistol and shotgun ( clay target) disciplines, and of several non-Olympic shooting sport events. ISSF's activities include regulation of the sport, Olympic qualifications and organization of international competitions such as the ISSF World Cup Series, the ISSF World Cup Finals, the ISSF Separate World Championship in Shotgun events and the ISSF World Championship in all events. Founded in 1907 as the International Shooting Union (french: Union Internationale de Tir), and then changing its name in 1998, the ISSF affiliates nowadays over 150 National Shooting Federations from Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Oleh Petrovych Omelchuk ( uk, Олег Петрович Омельчук; born 7 June 1983) is a Ukrainian sport shooter who competes in the men's 10 metre air pistol and the men's 50 metre pistol. He is the 2014 European 10 m pistol champion. Career Omelchuk has represented Ukraine at three Olympics. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, he finished in 16th place in the men's 10 m air pistol, and in 4th place in the 50 m pistol, losing out on the bronze medal to Russia's Vladimir Isakov in a shoot-off. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Omelchuk finished 5th in the final round of the men's 10 m air pistol and in 29th place in the men's 50 m pistol. The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine sent a total of 238 athletes, split equally between men and women, to compete in 21 sports.
