USSR Basketball Cup
The USSR Basketball Cup, or Soviet Union Basketball Cup, was the national basketball cup competition of the former Soviet Union. The first USSR Cup was held in the year 1949, and the last one was held in the year 1987. The competition was not held every year, as it was only contested 11 times between the years 1949 and 1987. However, it was initially held every year between 1949 and 1953. The last team to win the cup was Spartak Leningrad, in 1987. The Professional Basketball League (russian: Профессиональная баскетбольная лига (ПБЛ), Professionalʼnaya basketbolʼnaya liga), often abbreviated to the PBL, was the pre-eminent men's professional basketball league in Russia, and the successor to the Russian Super League 1, which is now the second-tier division of the Russian basketball league system. The PBL was the second version of the Russian Professional Basketball Championship. VTB United League
VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since 2013, it is the first tier of Russian professional club basketball. Therefore, the highest placed Russian team in the league is also named Russian national champions. The league is sponsored by Russian state-owned VTB Bank. In 2008 CSKA Moscow won VTB United League Promo-Cup, but this competition does not count as official VTB title. The current champions are Zenit Saint Petersburg, who secured their 1st ever title after defeating former champions CSKA Moscow 4–3 in the 2022 Finals. The Russian Professional Basketball Championship is the top-tier level men's professional club basketball competition in the country of Russia. Over the years, there have been 3 different incarnations of the Russian Basketball Championship. The Russian Super League 1, from the 1991–92 to 2009–10 seasons, the Russian Professional League (PBL), from the 2010–11 to 2011–13 seasons, and the VTB United League, from the 2013–14 season to the present. Kalev (also known as Tallinn Kalev, Korvpalliklubi Kalev) was a professional basketball club from Tallinn, Estonia what was back then part of Soviet Union. The team played in the Estonian Basketball League (Korvpalli Meistriliiga) and in the Soviet Union Basketball League. Their home arena was Kalev Sports Hall.
