UD Salamanca
Unión Deportiva Salamanca, S.A.D. () was a historical Spanish football team based in Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Founded on 9 February 1923 and nicknamed ''Los Charros'', the club played in white shirts and black shorts, holding home games at ''Estadio Helmántico'', which seated 17,341 spectators. History Initially formed by Irish students, Salamanca first played in early Spanish championships in 1907, before an official league was founded later on. On 16 March 1923, at the tables of Café Novelty, situated in the Plaza Mayor, Dionisio Ridruejo set the club's early official foundations and, from 1939 and during the following three decades, it fluctuated between the third and the second levels of the Spanish football league. In the 1974–75 season, Salamanca made its La Liga debuts, overachieving for a final 7th position (out of 18 teams), which eventually would be its best classification ever. Salamanca Club de Fútbol UDS, previously known as ''CF Salmantino'', is a Spanish football team based in Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Founded in 2013 after the dissolution of UD Salamanca, it currently plays in Segunda División RFEF – Group 1, holding home games at the '' Estadio Helmántico'' with a 17,341-seat capacity. History After the dissolution of UD Salamanca in 2013, some managers of the entity decided to refound the farm team to preserve the legacy of the historical club. With that aim, they created CD CF Salmantino. At first, it started playing in the same division as the old reserve team of Salamanca. The 2010–11 Segunda División season (known as the Liga Adelante for sponsorship reasons) was the 80th since its establishment. The first matches of the season were played on 27 August 2010, the regular league ended on 4 June 2011, and the season ended with the promotion play-off finals on 18 June 2011. The first goal of the season was scored by Javi Guerra, who scored a sixth-minute goal for Real Valladolid against Villarreal B in the early kick-off. Roberto Jorge D'Alessandro di Ninno (born 28 July 1949) is an Argentine retired football goalkeeper and manager. He is also one of the hosts of the Spanish TV program '' El Chiringuito de Jugones'', which specializes in football-related debates. He played most of his career with Salamanca in Spain, appearing in nine La Liga seasons and more than 300 official games with the club. He subsequently embarked in a managerial career in the same country, coaching several teams. Enrique 'Quique' Martín Sánchez (born 29 December 1972) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a forward. In a 20-year professional career he represented six teams, mainly Salamanca (three different spells). He amassed La Liga totals of 104 games and eight goals over the course of four seasons, with Mérida, Espanyol and Villarreal. Football career Martín was born in Avilés, Asturias.
