Uwe Beyer
Uwe Beyer (14 April 1945 – 15 April 1993) was a West German hammer thrower. He competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won the bronze medal in 1964, representing the United Team of Germany, and later finished fourth in 1972 representing West Germany. He won the European title in 1971 and finished third in 1966 and fifth in 1974. Domestically Beyer won eight consecutive German titles in 1964–71, and received the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt in 1964. He also starred as Siegfried in ''Die Nibelungen (1966/1967 film), Die Nibelungen''. Beyer had a degree in physical education and in retirement ran a sports store in Mainz. Timmendorf
Timmendorf is part of the municipality of Poel, Insel Poel on the Baltic Sea island of the same name in the district of Nordwestmecklenburg in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Timmendorf lies on the west coast of the island of Poel and is divided into the villages of Timmendorf and Timmendorf Strand, which are about a kilometre from one another. A prominent landmark in Timmendorf Strand and sea mark for the navigation of shipping in the Bay of Wismar is Timmendorf Lighthouse. A little to the north of the lighthouse there is a maritime pilot, pilot's house with a tower. The settlement has a one-kilometre-long sandy beach and a small harbour in which sports boats, fishing vessels and a pilot boat are moored. The tourist infrastructure includes various holiday apartments, a large campsite and several restaurants. Silbernes Lorbeerblatt (, ), the highest sports award in Germany, was endowed on 23 June 1950 by the German President Theodor Heuss. It is awarded to athletes and teams of exemplary character that have won medals at Olympic and Paralympic Games, won important international titles like the football World Cup, or placed several times at international championships. To be honored with Silbernes Lorbeerblatt, an athlete or a team has to be nominated by the president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation to the German President. The request will be reviewed by the Office of the German President and the Federal Ministry of the Interior as this agency is responsible for sport in Germany. Anabolic Steroid
Anabolic steroids, also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS), are a class of drugs that are structurally related to testosterone, the main male sex hormone, and produce effects by binding to the androgen receptor (AR). Anabolism, Anabolic Steroid, steroids have a number of medical uses, but are also used by athletes to increase muscle size, strength, and performance. Health risks can be produced by long-term use or excessive doses of AAS. These effects include harmful changes in cholesterol levels (increased low-density lipoprotein and decreased high-density lipoprotein), acne, high blood pressure, hepatotoxicity, liver damage (mainly with most oral AAS), and left ventricular hypertrophy. These risks are further increased when athletes take steroids alongside other drugs, causing significantly more damage to their bodies.
