USS ''Willard Keith'' (DD-775), an , is currently the only completed ship of the United States Navy ever named for Willard Keith, a United States Marine Corps captain who died in combat during the Battle of Guadalcanal, campaign for Guadalcanal. The Mare Island Naval Shipyard (MINSY or MINS) was the first United States Navy base established on the Pacific Ocean and was in service 142 years from 1854 to 1996.
