''Turn the Key Softly'' is a 1951 novel by the British writer John Brophy (writer), John Brophy. It follows the lives of three women in the first dozen hours after they are released from prison. John Brophy (6 December 1899 – 13 November 1965) was an Anglo-Irish soldier, journalist and author who wrote more than 40 books, mostly based on his experiences during World War I.
