Troy Onyango
Troy Onyango (born 1993) is a Kenyan writer, editor and lawyer. His work has appeared in journals and magazines including ''Prairie Schooner'', ''Wasafiri'', ''Caine Prize Anthology'', ''Brittle Paper'', and ''Transition Magazine'' issue 121, for which his short story "The Transfiguration" was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. His short story "For What Are Butterflies Without Their Wings" won the fiction prize for the inaugural Nyanza Literary Festival (NALIF) Prize. Life and career Troy Onyango was born and grew up in Kisumu, an inland port city along the shores of Lake Victoria in Western Kenya. He attended the University of Nairobi, where he studied law. He obtained an MA in creative writing from the University of East Anglia where he was a recipient of the Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship. Kisumu
Kisumu ( ) is the third-largest city in Kenya after the capital, Nairobi, and the coastal city of Mombasa (census 2019). It is the third-largest city after Kampala and Mwanza in the Lake Victoria Basin. Apart from being an important political city, it is one of the premier industrial and commercial centres in Kenya. Panashe Chigumadzi
Panashe Chigumadzi (born 1991) is a Zimbabwean-born journalist, essayist and novelist, who was raised in South Africa. Background Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1991, Chigumadzi grew up in South Africa. She has published her writing in a variety of media. She has been a columnist for ''The Guardian'', ''Die Zeit'', ''The New York Times'', ''The Washington Post'', ''New York Review of Books'' and ''Chimurenga''. She was a founder of ''VANGUARD'', a magazine designed to give space to young, black South African women interested in how queer identities, pan-Africanism and Black Consciousness intersect. At the start of her career, Chigumadzi worked as a reporter for CNBC Africa. Chigumadzi draws on the history of Zimbabwe in her work, by exploring national and personal histories and identities.
