Trophée Eric Bompard
The Grand Prix de France is an international, senior-level figure skating competition held as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. It was previously known as the Grand Prix International de Paris (1987–1993), Trophée de France (1994–1995, 2016), Trophée Lalique (1996–2003), Trophée Éric Bompard (2004–2015), and Internationaux de France (2017–2021). Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Organized by the French Federation of Ice Sports, the event is most often held in Paris but is also hosted by other cities – Albertville in 1991, Lyon in 1994, Bordeaux in 1995, 2014, and 2015, Grenoble from 2017 to 2021, and Angers in 2022 and 2023. Christopher Bowman
Christopher Nicol Bowman (March 30, 1967 – January 10, 2008) was an American figure skater. He was a two-time World medalist (silver in 1989, bronze in 1990), the 1983 World Junior champion, and a two-time U.S. national champion. He competed in two Olympic Winter Games, placing 7th in 1988 and 4th in 1992. Early years Bowman was born in Hollywood, California. In his childhood, he appeared in commercials and two episodes of the TV series ''Little House on the Prairie''. Career In 1983, Bowman won the World Junior Championships and the U.S. national junior title. Bowman withdrew from the 1986 U.S. Championships after finishing second in the short program; he had a separation between his right tibia and fibula. Norm Proft
Norm Proft (born 1966) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is the 1989 Grand Prix International de Paris bronze medalist and 1990 Skate Electric champion. Personal life Proft was born around 1967 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He married choreographer Julie Brault, and has a daughter, Emmanuelle (born 2002). Career Proft switched from ice hockey to figure skating at age 11. Coached by Cynthia Ullmark, he was called up to compete in the junior event at the 1987 Canadian Championships after two skaters withdrew. He won gold at the event. Internationally, he was awarded bronze medals at the 1988 Golden Spin of Zagreb and 1989 Grand Prix International de Paris, and gold at the 1990 Skate Electric. Vyacheslav Vasylovych Zahorodnyuk ( uk, В'ячеслав Васильович Загороднюк, born 11 August 1972) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. He represented the USSR until its dissolution and then represented Ukraine. He is the 1994 World bronze medalist, 1996 European champion, and 1989 World Junior champion. Personal life Zahorodnyuk was born on 11 August 1972 in Odessa, Ukrainian SSR. He married Ukrainian ice dancer Olga Mudrak in 1994. They have a son, Maxim (born August 2005), and a daughter, Alina (born in February 2009). Career Zahorodnyuk was initially coached by Galina Zmievskaya. Competing for the Soviet Union, he won the 1989 World Junior Championships. Michael Slipchuk
Michael Slipchuk (born March 19, 1966) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater who currently serves as the High Performance Director of Skate Canada. As a competitive skater, Slipchuk won the 1992 Canadian Figure Skating Championships and placed 9th at the 1992 Winter Olympics. He competed five times at the World Figure Skating Championships. His highest placement was seventh, in 1991. Grzegorz Filipowski (Polish pronunciation: ; born 28 July 1966) is a former Polish competitive figure skater. He is the 1985 European bronze medalist, the 1989 European silver medalist and the 1989 World bronze medalist. Filipowski competed in three Winter Olympics between 1984 and 1992, with a best finish of fifth position in 1988. He missed the first half of the 1987–88 season due to a stress fracture in his left leg. Filipowski was the first skater to perform a triple-triple combination of jumps (3 toe/3 toe) in competition. Paul Stanton Wylie (born October 28, 1964) is an American figure skater, and the 1992 Olympic silver medalist in men's singles skating. Personal life Paul Stanton Wylie was born on October 24, 1964 in Dallas, Texas to Bob Wylie (a geophysicist) and B.L. Wylie (a realtor) — the youngest of three children. In Dallas, he attended St. Mark's School of Texas. When he was eleven, his family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he focused increasingly on skating and graduated from Colorado Academy. Wylie attended Harvard University and graduated in 1991 with a degree in government. After competing in the 1992 Winter Olympics, as he planned, he retired from amateur competition and began his professional skating career.
