Treetops Sporting Ground is a sporting clay pigeon shooting ground located in Coedkernew, Newport, South Wales. It has facilities for air rifle owners. The ground also has a very good large area set aside for Paintballing and is great fun to use for team building and birthday parties. Great hot and cold food and drinks available on site. Nant y Moor Park 01633681007 History The ground's Cefn Llogell woodland site was part of Lord Tredegar's estate and the Nant-y-Moor brook which runs through the wood feeds the large lake at Tredegar House in nearby Duffryn. The land was purchased from the farmer owner in the late 1980s by DJ Litt Firearms Ltd, a gun retailer based in Newport, with the intent of turning it into a clay shooting ground allowing gun customers to try out guns before purchasing them. Treetops Hotel was a hotel in Aberdare National Park in Kenya near the township of Nyeri, 1,966 m (6,450 ft) above sea level on the Aberdare Range and in sight of Mount Kenya. First opened in 1932 by Eric Sherbrooke Walker, it was built into the tops of the trees of Aberdare National Park as a treehouse, offering the guests a close view of the local wildlife. The idea was to provide a :wikt:machan, machan (hunting platform on a tree during Hunting#Indian subcontinent, shikar in India) experience in relative safety and comfort. From the original modest two-room tree house, it has grown into a 35-room hotel. The original structure was burned down by The Kenya Land and Freedom Army (KLFA) during the 1954 Mau Mau Uprising, but the hotel was rebuilt near the same Depression (geology), waterhole and has become fashionable for many of the rich and famous.
