Trafic
''Trafic'' (''Traffic'') is a 1971 Italian-French comedy film directed by Jacques Tati. ''Trafic'' was the last film to feature Tati's famous character of Monsieur Hulot, and followed the vein of earlier Tati films that lampooned modern society. Tati's use of the word "trafic" instead of the usual French word for car traffic (''la circulation'') may derive from a desire to use the same franglais he used when he called his previous film ''Playtime'', and the primary meaning of ''trafic'' is "exchange of goods", rather than "traffic" per se. The word "Trafic" was subsequently used for a light utility vehicle model manufactured by Renault starting in 1981. Jacques Tati
Jacques Tati (; born Jacques Tatischeff, ; 9 October 1907 – 5 November 1982) was a French mime, film-maker, actor and screenwriter. In an ''Entertainment Weekly'' poll of the Greatest Movie Directors, he was voted the 46th greatest of all time (out of 50), although he directed only six feature-length films. Tati's ''Playtime'' (1967) ranked 43rd in the 2012 ''Sight & Sound'' critics' poll of the greatest films ever made. As David Bellos puts it, "Tati, from ''l'Ecole des facteurs'' to ''Playtime'', is the epitome of what an ''auteur'' is (in film theory) supposed to be: the controlling mind behind a vision of the world on film". Monsieur Hulot
Monsieur Hulot is a character created and played by French comic Jacques Tati for a series of films in the 1950s and '60s, namely '' Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot'' (1953), '' Mon Oncle'' (1958), ''Playtime'' (1967) and ''Trafic'' (1971). The character of Hulot (although played by another actor) also appears briefly in François Truffaut's '' Bed & Board'' (1970). He is recognized by his overcoat, pipe and hat, and his distinctive lurching walk. He is clumsy and somewhat naive of the evolving world around him, but still has a friendly, well-meaning, and good-natured persona. His escapades usually involved clashes with technology and the problems of living in an increasingly impersonal and gadgetized world. Charles Dumont (born March 26, 1929 in Cahors, ( Lot, France)), is a French singer and composer. Dumont is best remembered for writing or co-writing over 30 of the most well-known songs recorded by singer Édith Piaf, including Non, je ne regrette rien. Composer He wrote songs until the 1960s, sometimes under an alias, for Dalida, Gloria Lasso, Luis Mariano and Tino Rossi. He worked with lyricist Michel Vaucaire. In 1956 they wrote '' Non, je ne regrette rien'', recorded in 1960 by Édith Piaf. That led to more than 30 songs for her, such as ''Flonflons du Bal'', ''Mon Dieu'' and ''Les Amants'' which Piaf and Dumont wrote and sang together in 1962. Sophie Catherine Tatischeff (23 October 1946 - 27 October 2001) was a French film editor and director. Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Tatischeff was the daughter of Jacques Tati. She began her career as assistant editor on her father's 1967 film '' Play Time''. She also edited both ''Trafic'' (1971) and ''Parade'' (1974). After Tati's death she produced a colour version of his 1949 feature ''Jour de fête'' using previously unusable colour film elements shot simultaneously with the monochrome stock. Robert Dorfmann (3 March 1912 – 11 August 1999) was a French film producer who worked from the 1950s to the 1970s. He is the father of French film producer Jacques Dorfmann.
