Tor, Pallars
Tor is a village within the Alins municipality of the Pallars Sobirà in Catalonia, Spain. Its municipal boundary borders with Andorra close to the spot in La Massana parish where the Vallnord ski resort complex, formed by Pal, Andorra, Pal and Arinsal, is located. This small village had only 25 inhabitants in 2005. It is located in the Pyrenees, close to the Port de Cabús mountain pass at an altitude of . Tor was formerly a place where much tobacco product cross-border smuggling took place. Recently, during the Spanish real estate bubble Tor also became notorious for a local conflict about the ownership of a particular mountain within its municipal boundary, close to the Andorra border. This conflict triggered greed among local families and became the cause of three murders, following which a book ''Tor: tretze cases i tres morts'' (Tor: thirteen houses and three dead), by Carles Porta, was published. First appearing in literature in the mid-12th century, the Knights are an order dedicated to ensuring the peace of Arthur's kingdom following an early warring period, entrusted in later years to undergo a mystical quest for the Holy Grail. The Round Table at which they meet is a symbol of the equality of its members, who range from sovereign royals to minor nobles. Orya–Tor Languages
The Orya–Tor languages are a family of just over a dozen Papuan languages spoken in Western New Guinea, Indonesia. Classification The Tor family, named after the Tor River, is clearly established. Its closest relative appears to be Orya. Stephen Wurm (1975) linked Orya and the Tor languages with the Lakes Plain languages, forming a branch of his Trans–New Guinea phylum. Clouse (1997) found no evidence of such a connection. Malcolm Ross (2005) linked them instead with part of another erstwhile branch of TNG in a Tor–Kwerba proposal, and Usher makes a broadly similar proposal. Tor is a heritage-listed villa at 396 Tor Street, Newtown, Toowoomba, Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by William Hodgen and built in 1904. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 28 May 1999. History Tor, a single storey timber residence, was constructed in 1904 for Mrs Frederick Hurrell Holberton. The residence was designed by Toowoomba architect, William Hodgen, Mrs Holberton's nephew and built by John Sweeney. The Deed of Grant for the land on which Tor was to be built was issued to Lucy Harriet Fletcher on 19 November 1860. The grant comprised Portions 155 and 156, an area of just over 60 acres. Title passed to William Lord in October 1861 who later subdivided the property in 1877. James Williams purchased subs 21-23 of section two of portion 155, in March 1877, which comprised just over eight acres. The Tor (russian: Тор; en, torus) is an all-weather, low- to medium-altitude, short-range surface-to-air missile system designed for destroying airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and short-range ballistic threats (anti- munitions). Originally developed by the Soviet Union under the GRAU designation 9K330 Tor, the system is commonly known by its NATO reporting name, SA-15 "Gauntlet". A navalized variant was developed under the name 3K95 "Kinzhal", also known as the SA-N-9 "Gauntlet". Tor was designed to shoot down guided weapons like the AGM-86 ALCM and BGM-34 day and night, in bad weather and jamming situations. Tor can detect targets while on the move. Tor (rifle)
The WKW Tor or ''Wilk'' (Wolf) is a modern anti-materiel and/or sniper rifle produced in Poland by the Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów factory. The nickname "WKW Tor" stands for Wielkokalibrowy Karabin Wyborowy or Large Caliber Sniper Rifle. Its military designation in the Polish army is known as the Tor. This rifle was developed between 2000 and 2004 and the first selected units in the Polish army apparently received Wilk/Tor rifles in around 2005 onwards. The WKW Wilk/Tor anti-materiel and/or sniper rifle makes use of a manually operated rotary bolt action weapon of bull-pup layout. It is fed from detachable box magazines and is fitted with a folding and adjustable bipod and an adjustable rear monopod. Standard sighting equipment is a Schmidt & Bender X3−12 P/MII telescope sight which is placed on Picatinny rails above the receiver. The Tor Line was a freight shipping company. Together with its subsidiaries, the Tor Line operated a fleet of approximately 65 ro-ro, ro-pax and lo-lo ships, primarily on the North and Baltic Seas. It was ultimately purchased by Denmark-based DFDS, which renamed it DFDS Tor Line, and it operated as a freight-carrying division of DFDS along with DFDS Lisco, DFDS Lys Line and DFDS Container Line before retiring the brand. Tor Line was founded as a joint venture between the Swedish Trans Oil Shipping and Rex Shipping to operate car-passenger ferries between Sweden, England and the Netherlands. Tor Books is the primary imprint of Tor Publishing Group (previously Tom Doherty Associates), a publishing company based in New York City. Tor Air AB, operated as Tor Air, was a charter airline based in Gothenburg, Sweden, that operated between December 2008 and December 2011. Its main base was Gothenburg City Airport. This airline should not be mixed up with another Swedish charter airline named Tor-Air, which operated from 1964 and 1966 with Curtiss Commando and Douglas DC-3 aircraft.
