''El Topo'' (, "The Mole") is a 1970 Mexican acid Western art film written, scored, directed by and starring Alejandro Jodorowsky. Characterized by its bizarre characters and occurrences, use of maimed and dwarf performers, and heavy doses of Judeo-Christian symbolism and Eastern philosophy, the film is about "El Topo"—a violent, black-clad gunfighter played by Jodorowsky himself—and his quest for enlightenment. Plot "El Topo" is traveling through a desert on horseback with his naked young son, Hijo. Topo Gigio
Topo Gigio () originally known as "COCO GIGIO" was the lead character of a children's puppet show on Italian television in the early 1960s. The character, created in 1958 by artist Maria Perego, her husband Federico Caldura, and fellow artist Guido Stagnaro, debuted on Italian television in 1959 and has been customarily voiced by actor Giuseppe "Peppino" Mazzullo and later Davide Garbolino. The Italian language, Italian nickname "Gigi" is a derivative of Luigi ("Louis"), so ''Topo Gigio'' could be translated as ''Louie Mouse''. Topo Gigio was very popular in Italy for many years—not only on TV, but also in children's magazines, such as the classical ''Corriere dei Piccoli'', animated cartoons, merchandising and movies. Topo (Calheta)
Topo, also known as Nossa Senhora do Rosário, is a ''freguesia'' ("civil parish") on the northeastern corner of the municipality Calheta on the island of São Jorge. It is considered the first settlement on the island of São Jorge to attain the status of municipality; from 1510 to 1867 "Vila do Topo" was the municipal seat of Topo, which included the neighboring parish of Santo Antão. The population in 2011 was 508, in an area of 9.24 km². History Debate still exists on whether Topo was the first settlement on the island; the first colony was founded between 1480 and 1490, when a colony of Flemish people, under the direction of Willem van der Haegen, settled on the eastern coast. In modern mapping, a topographic map or topographic sheet is a type of map characterized by large- scale detail and quantitative representation of relief features, usually using contour lines (connecting points of equal elevation), but historically using a variety of methods. Traditional definitions require a topographic map to show both natural and artificial features. A topographic survey is typically based upon a systematic observation and published as a map series, made up of two or more map sheets that combine to form the whole map. A topographic map series uses a common specification that includes the range of cartographic symbols employed, as well as a standard geodetic framework that defines the map projection, coordinate system, ellipsoid and geodetic datum. Topo is a robot designed in the 1980s by Androbot Inc., for the consumer and education markets. It is programmable via Apple II and there is a user made program for the Windows 9x operating systems. The programming language allows the robot to perform a set of geometric movements, to move about a room and perform tasks. It is like a servant robot, although it does not truly meet the requirements of a robot, as it had no sensors to use to receive input and then make decisions accordingly. Topo is a fictional character that has appeared in American comic books published by DC Comics, notable as a loyal sidekick to Aquaman and often aids him and his allies in combat. Publication history Topo first appears in ''Adventure Comics'' vol 1 #229 and was created by Ramona Fradon. As of current continuity there have been three different versions of the character which bear the name Topo. The Brigada Internacional de Rescate Tlatelolco A.C, commonly known as the Topos de Tlatelolco or Los Topos, is a professional non-profit Mexican rescue team. Composition Their specialty is searching for victims under the debris of collapsed buildings and giving first aid. One of the group's original founders, Hector "El Chino" Méndez states that one of the things that distinguish his group from others is that they have the "balls to go in where no one else will" (''huevos de entrar adonde los demás no quieren''). the organization had an average of about forty members plus search and rescue dogs which they train themselves. The group, along with the Civil Protection Agency of Mexico, issues certificates and sponsors technical degrees in areas related to the field. Topophilia (From Greek ''topos'' "place" and ''-philia'', "love of") is a strong sense of place, which often becomes mixed with the sense of cultural identity among certain people and a love of certain aspects of such a place. Topo (climbing)
In climbing, topo is the graphical representation (sketch drawing or a photograph with routes depicted) of a climbing route. Topo is also a climbing guidebook of a crag or climbing area in which most routes are described graphically by such topos. Each individual topo gives the approximate shape of the route, the important rock formations close to the route and details of the grade, lines of the various rock climbs, and protection of each section of the climb. Topo guides usually also include the length of the climbs, where exactly each climb starts, and how to get to the area of the climb.
