Tom Daly (American Politician)
Tom Daly (born July 26, 1954) is an American politician who served in the California State Assembly. He is a Democrat who represented the 69th Assembly District, which encompassed central Orange County, including the cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Orange. Prior to being elected to the Assembly in 2012, Daly served as Orange County Clerk-Recorder, as well as Mayor of Anaheim. He first sought elected office in 1986 for the Anaheim Union High School District. Early life and career A native of Orange County, Daly was born and raised in Anaheim. He attended four local schools, starting in kindergarten at Lincoln Elementary, then moving on to St. Anthony's, Sycamore Junior High, and Anaheim High. Daly's father was a longtime Latin and English teacher at Anaheim High School. Both his parents were active in civic affairs, providing Daly's introduction to local politics. Thomas Daly (born June 1938), known as Tom Daly, was an Irish nationalist politician. Born in Belleek, County Fermanagh, Daly studied at St Columb's College before becoming a pub landlord. He joined the Nationalist Party, and was elected to Fermanagh County Council in 1968, serving until its abolition in 1972. The following year, he was a founder member of the Fermanagh branch of the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP), and was elected under this new label to the Northern Ireland Assembly, 1973, in which he represented Fermanagh and South Tyrone. He was also elected to the new Fermanagh District Council, serving as its first vice-chairman. Thomas Daly (born 16 February 1991) is an Australian basketball player for the Mount Gambier Pioneers of the NBL1 South. Early life Daly was born in Adelaide, South Australia, and attended Unley High School. NBL and State League career Daly made his semi-professional debut in 2009 with the Sturt Sabres of the Central Australian Basketball League. He helped the Sabres win the 2010 Central ABL championship, scoring 26 points in the final. He was also the Frank Angove Medalist in 2010 which is awarded to best U/23 player in Central ABL. Following the 2010 Central ABL season, Daly joined the Adelaide 36ers as a development player for the 2010–11 NBL season. Due to injuries in the 36ers squad, Daly saw increased playing time over the season. He averaged 2.2 points in 8.35 minutes in 13 games. Tom Daly (catcher)
Thomas Daniel Daly (December 12, 1891 – November 7, 1946) was a Canadian Major League Baseball player and coach. He was a catcher for the Chicago White Sox (1913–15), Cleveland Indians (1916) and Chicago Cubs (1918–21), helping the Cubs win the 1918 National League pennant. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Daly played eight seasons in the major leagues, appearing in 244 games, and had 540 at-bats, 49 runs, 129 hits, 17 doubles, 3 triples, 55 RBI, 5 stolen bases, 25 walks, a .239 batting average, .274 on-base percentage, a .281 slugging percentage, 152 total bases and 8 sacrifice hits. After his major league career, he managed the Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League for the early part of the 1932 season. He was a Boston Red Sox coach for 14 seasons (1933–46), the longest consecutive-year coaching tenure in Bosox history. Daly died in Medford, Massachusetts at the age of 54 from colon cancer. Thomas Peter Daly (February 7, 1866 – October 29, 1938) was an American second baseman and catcher who played in Major League Baseball from 1884 to 1903. He played for the Philadelphia Keystones, Chicago White Stockings, Washington Nationals, Brooklyn Bridegrooms/Grooms/Superbas, Chicago White Sox, and Cincinnati Reds. In 1568 games over 17 seasons, Daly posted a .278 batting average (1583-for-5701) with 1025 runs, 262 doubles, 103 triples, 49 home runs, 811 runs batted in, 687 bases on balls, 385 stolen bases, .361 on-base percentage, and .386 slugging percentage. His brother, Joe Daly, also played professional baseball. Tom Daly (rugby Union)
Tom Daly (born 31 July 1993) is an Irish rugby union player for Connacht. At 6'4" and 106-kg (16 stone), he plays the centre position. He formerly played for Lansdowne in the All Ireland League. Club career Daly featured for Leinster at both u-18 and u-19 youth levels, and entered the Leinster academy in 2013. After three years in the academy, he was awarded his first fully professional contract ahead of the 2016–17 season. He debuted in a November 2016 away win against Zebre, and made nine appearances in the 2016–17 season, mostly as a substitute. In an August 2017 pre-season Leinster match, Daly suffered damage to the ACL in his knee, forcing him to miss almost the entire 2017–18 season. Thomas Daly (15 September 1894 – 21 September 1936) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling at various times with his local clubs Tulla in Clare and Collegians in Dublin. Daly also played hurling at inter-county level with both Clare and Dublin between 1917 and 1933. The GAA pitch is called Dr Daly Park which is named after him. Biography Tommy Daly was born in Tulla, County Clare in 1894. He was educated locally and later attended University College Dublin where he studied medicine. It was at UCD that Daly first tasted success on the hurling field. He was the goalkeeper on the college team that captured the Fitzgibbon Cup title in 1915. Daly won a further five Fitzgibbon Cup titles with the college in 1916, 1917, 1923, 1924 and 1927. After graduation, he practiced medicine in London and regularly returned home for hurling matches.
