Tin Angel Records
Tin Angel Records is a British independent record label. History Tin Angel Records has founded in 2007 with Devon Sproule's '' Keep Your Silver Shined''. The album received critical acclaim and led to Sproule appearing live on Later... with Jools Holland. Other notable records for the label in 2007 were by Paul Curreri and Adrian Crowley, with Crowley's album '' Long Distance Swimmer'' receiving a nomination for the 2007 Choice Music Prize. In 2008, Tin Angel released the self-titled album by Polar Bear, the follow-up to their Mercury Music Prize-nominated ''Held On The Tips Of Fingers''. The label has since released records by the likes of Baby Dee, Charlie Parr and Evening Hymns (whose album '' Spectral Dusk'' was longlisted for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize) and branched into book publishing in 2012 with the release of Little Annie's autobiography ''You Can't Sing The Blues While Drinking Milk''. Ed Askew
Edward C. Askew (born 1940) is an American painter and singer-songwriter who first recorded in 1968 and now lives in New York City. History Born Edward C. Askew in Stamford, Connecticut, he moved to New Haven, Connecticut, to study painting at Yale School of Art in 1963 and took up, more or less, permanent residence there until leaving for New York in 1987. After graduating from art school in 1966, Askew was called up for the draft. Not feeling particularly enthusiastic about going to war at age 26, he looked for a teaching job and found work at a private prep school in Connecticut. It was while teaching he started making songs; he also acquired his Martin Tiple at this time. The singer-songwriter moved to New York for a few months in 1967 where he met Bernard Stollman of ESP-Disk, who offered him a contract. John Southworth is an English-Canadian singer-songwriter, performer, author and videomaker. He performs a diverse range of popular and peculiar song genres, from AM oldies-radio to traditional folk balladry, 80s pop to art song and cabaret. North by Northeast (or NXNE) is an annual music and arts festival held each June in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The festival's main focus is live music, but it also includes an eSports gaming tournament, comedy, a conversations series, a flea market and more. The festival events happen in a variety venues with free events on Canada's largest street, Yonge Street with events on the Street and in Yonge Dundas Square. Baby Dee
Baby Dee (born 1953) is an American performance artist, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio. Early career In the 1970s, Baby Dee began her musical career as a street performer, but soon decided to take work as an organist at a Catholic church in the Bronx. Ten years later, after Dee had begun her transition into life as a woman, she left her job at the church and returned to her earlier occupation as a performance artist. She performed as an accordion-playing bilateral hermaphrodite in Coney Island, leading to a stint as the bandleader for the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. She also became known for a street act in which she played harp while atop a high-rise tricycle in Manhattan. In the 1990s, Baby Dee met fellow transgender musician and performance artist Anohni.
