Timothy Spahr
Timothy Bruce Spahr (born 1970) is an American astronomer and prolific discoverer of minor planets. From 2000–2014 he worked at the Center for Astrophysics Harvard & Smithsonian Minor Planet Center. From September 2006 to December 2014 he was the director of Minor Planet Center. He is a co-discoverer of Callirrhoe, a moon of Jupiter, and of Albiorix, a moon of Saturn. He also discovered two periodic comets: 171P/Spahr and P/1998 U4. He is credited by the Minor Planet Center with the discovery of 58 minor planets. Dr. Spahr is currently the CEO of NEO Sciences LLC, a consulting firm specializing in characterization of Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) including PHAs (Potentially Hazardous Asteroids), Asteroid and Comet A comet is an icy, small Solar System body that, when passing close to the Sun, warms and begins to release gases, a process that is called outgassing. This produces a visible atmosphere or coma, and sometimes also a tail. These phenomena ... scienc ...

Minor Planet
According to the International Astronomical Union (IAU), a minor planet is an astronomical object in direct orbit around the Sun that is exclusively classified as neither a planet nor a comet. Before 2006, the IAU officially used the term ''minor planet'', but that year's meeting reclassified minor planets and comets into dwarf planets and small Solar System bodies (SSSBs).Press release, IAU 2006 General Assembly: Result of the IAU Resolution votes

7476 Ogilsbie
7476 Ogilsbie, provisional designation , is a carbonaceous asteroid from the outer region of the asteroid belt, approximately 20 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered by American astronomer Timothy Spahr at the U.S. Catalina Station in Tucson, Arizona, on 14 April 1993. Orbit and classification ''Ogilsbie'' orbits the Sun in the outer main-belt at a distance of 2.4–3.9  AU once every 5 years and 7 months (2,043 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.23 and an inclination of 26 ° with respect to the ecliptic. The first used precovery was obtained at Palomar Observatory in 1990, extending the asteroid's observation arc by 3 years prior to its discovery. The first (unused) observation at Palomar dates back to 1953. Physical characteristics In 2010, a photometric lightcurve analysis by Italian astronomer Andrea Ferrero at the Bigmuskie Observatory () in Mombercelli, Italy, rendered a well-defined rotation period of hours with a brightness amplitude of 0.40 in ...

24827 Maryphil
24827 Maryphil, provisional designation , is a stony Phocaea asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 6 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 2 September 1995, by American astronomer Timothy Spahr at the Catalina Station near Tucson, Arizona, who named it for his parents, Mary & Phil Spahr. Orbit and classification ''Maryphil'' is a core member of the Phocaea family (), a prominent family of stony asteroids with their largest members being 25 Phocaea and 587 Hypsipyle. Unlike this asteroid, many members of the relatively eccentric Phocaea family are Mars-crossing asteroids. This asteroid orbits the Sun in the inner asteroid belt at a distance of 1.8–2.9  AU once every 3 years and 7 months (1,312 days; semi-major axis of 2.35 AU). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.23 and an inclination of 23 ° with respect to the ecliptic. The body's observation arc begins at the discovering Catalina Station on 30 August 1992, just ...

Year 449 ( CDXLIX) was a common year starting on Saturday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Astyrius and Romanus (or, less frequently, year 1202 '' Ab urbe condita''). The denomination 449 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years. Events By place Europe * Emperor Valentinian III sends an embassy to Attila the Hun. The purpose of the meeting is a long-running dispute over spoils of war during the Danube offensive (441–442). Attila claims his lost property, but Valentinian and Flavius Aetius (''magister militum'') refuse this request. The End of Empire. Christopher Kelly, 2009. * Flavius Orestes, Roman aristocrat, is sent to Attila's court and becomes a high-ranking secretary (''notarius''). He is the father of the future emperor Romulus Augustulus. * Traditional date &n ...

1 (one, unit, unity) is a number representing a single or the only entity. 1 is also a numerical digit and represents a single unit of counting or measurement. For example, a line segment of ''unit length'' is a line segment of length 1. In conventions of sign where zero is considered neither positive nor negative, 1 is the first and smallest positive integer. It is also sometimes considered the first of the infinite sequence of natural numbers, followed by  2, although by other definitions 1 is the second natural number, following  0. The fundamental mathematical property of 1 is to be a multiplicative identity, meaning that any number multiplied by 1 equals the same number. Most if not all properties of 1 can be deduced from this. In advanced mathematics, a multiplicative identity is often denoted 1, even if it is not a number. 1 is by convention not considered a prime number; this was not universally accepted until the mid-20th century. Additionally, 1 is ...

7 (seven) is the natural number following 6 and preceding 8. It is the only prime number preceding a cube (algebra), cube. As an early prime number in the series of positive integers, the number seven has greatly symbolic associations in religion, mythology, superstition and philosophy. The seven Classical planets resulted in seven being the number of days in a week. It is often considered lucky in Western culture and is often seen as Symbolism of the Number 7, highly symbolic. Unlike Western culture, in Vietnamese culture, the number seven is sometimes considered unlucky. It is the first natural number whose pronunciation contains more than one syllable. Evolution of the Arabic digit In the Brahmi numerals, beginning, Indians wrote 7 more or less in one stroke as a curve that looks like an uppercase vertically inverted. The western Ghubar Arabs' main contribution was to make the longer line diagonal rather than straight, though they showed some tendencies to making the digit m ...
