Tim Simpson
} Timothy Jay Simpson (born May 6, 1956) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour, and currently plays on the Champions Tour. Simpson was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended high school at Woodward Academy where he was the Atlanta Junior Champion, Georgia Junior Champion and Westlake National Junior Champion. He attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and was a member of the golf team. He left college early and turned professional at age 20. He earned his tour card at 21 years, 2 months. Simpson's first win in professional golf came at the 1981 Cacharel World Under-25 Championship in Nimes, France. His first PGA Tour win came three seasons later at the 1985 Southern Open. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom. Greg Norman
Gregory John Norman AO (born 10 February 1955) is an Australian entrepreneur and retired professional golfer who spent 331 weeks as world number one in the 1980s and 1990s. He won 89 professional tournaments, including 20 PGA Tour tournaments and two majors: The Open Championship in 1986 and 1993. Norman also earned thirty top-10 finishes and was the runner-up eight times in majors throughout his career. Clarence Rose
Clarence Rose (born December 8, 1957) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, and Champions Tour. Rose was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he makes his home today. He attended Clemson University and was a member of the golf team, an All-American in 1980. He turned pro and joined the PGA Tour in 1981. Rose has more than two dozen top-10 finishes including one win and six runners-up in official PGA Tour events. He captured his first victory at the 1996 Sprint International in his 16th year on the Tour. His best finish in a major championship was T40 at the 1988 U.S. Open. Rose took a hiatus from competitive golf in 1990 after learning his 18-month-old son, Clark, had testicular cancer. He played in just 18 events from 1992–1995. Southern Amateur
The Southern Amateur is an amateur golf tournament. It has been played since 1902 and is organized by the Southern Golf Association. From 1902 to 1963, it was played at match play. Since 1964, it has been played at stroke play. In December 2021, the Southern Amateur joined with six other tournaments to form the Elite Amateur Golf Series. Georgia Golf Hall Of Fame's Botanical Garden
The Augusta Botanical Gardens (formerly the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Botanical Gardens) was a botanical garden located in downtown Augusta, Georgia. Until July 2007, it contained display gardens () along the Stream bed, banks of the Savannah River, and include a rose garden with over 800 miniature rose varieties, as well as sculptures of famous golfers Raymond Floyd, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones (golfer), Bobby Jones, Byron Nelson, Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer. Because of financial problems, the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame closed the gardens. Most of the plants died because they were not watered. On September 6, 2007, the sculptures were removed and placed in a maintenance shed on the property, where they remain to this day. The property is still owned by the state, though there is no funding for its upkeep.
