"The Tholian Web" is the ninth episode of the Star Trek: The Original Series (season 3), third season of the American science fiction television series ''Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek''. Written by Judy Burns and Chet Richards and directed by Herb Wallerstein, it was first broadcast on November 15, 1968. In the episode, Captain James T. Kirk, Kirk is caught between dimensions while the crew of the ''Enterprise'' works to retrieve him. All the while, the Tholians are weaving a destructive energy web around the ''Enterprise''. Plot The starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701), USS ''Enterprise'' enters an uncharted region of space searching for her sister ship, the USS ''Defiant''. Sensors detect fractures in space, and a power loss affects all systems. ''Defiant'' is found adrift, and Star Trek uniforms, Captain James T. Jonathan Archer
Jonathan Archer is a fictional character in the ''Star Trek'' franchise. He is the protagonist of the television series ''Star Trek: Enterprise'', where he is portrayed by Scott Bakula. Archer is the commanding officer of the first starship ''Enterprise'' (NX-01) from 2151 to 2161. Archer also played a major role in the formation of Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets, and was later President of the United Federation of Planets from 2184 to 2192. According to a computer display in the episode "In a Mirror, Darkly", historian John Gill considered Archer "the greatest explorer of the 22nd century." "In a Mirror, Darkly" is the eighteenth and nineteenth episodes of the Star Trek: Enterprise (season 4), fourth season of the American science fiction television series ''Star Trek: Enterprise'', and originally aired on April 22 and 29, 2005. This installment was developed to be a sequel to ''Star Trek: The Original Series, The Original Series'' episode "The Tholian Web" and a prequel to "Mirror, Mirror (Star Trek: The Original Series), Mirror, Mirror". The decision to set an ''Enterprise'' episode in the mirror universe originated with a pitch to enable William Shatner to appear in the series. The teleplays for both parts of the episode were written by Mike Sussman (TV series writer/producer), Mike Sussman, with Manny Coto contributing the story for the second part. ''Star Trek'' is an American science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry that follows the adventures of the starship and its crew.
