Theodore Kisiel
Theodore J. Kisiel (October 30, 1930 – December 25, 2021),VIAF"Kisiel, Theodore J."/ref> Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus of philosophy at Northern Illinois University, was a well-known translator of and commentator on the works of Martin Heidegger. Work Kisiel is known for his research on the development of Heidegger's early thought. Among his students are Gerry Stahl, Steven Crowell and Govert Schüller. Virtual International Authority File
The Virtual International Authority File (VIAF) is an international authority file. It is a joint project of several national libraries and operated by the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). History Discussion about having a common international authority started in the late 1990s. After a series of failed attempts to come up with a unique common authority file, the new idea was to link existing national authorities. This would present all the benefits of a common file without requiring a large investment of time and expense in the process. The VIAF concept was introduced at the 2003 World Library and Information Congress, hosted by the International Federation of Library Associations. The project was initiated by the US Library of Congress (LC), the German National Library (DNB) and the OCLC on 6 August 2003. Martin Heidegger (; ; 26 September 188926 May 1976) was a German philosopher who is best known for contributions to phenomenology, hermeneutics, and existentialism. He is among the most important and influential philosophers of the 20th century. He has been widely criticized for supporting the Nazi Party after his election as rector at the University of Freiburg in 1933, and there has been controversy about the relationship between his philosophy and Nazism. Gerry Stahl is an American computer scientist specializing in computer-supported collaborative learning. He is professor emeritus of computing and informatics at Drexel University, and was the founding editor-in-chief of the ''International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning''. Steven Crowell is an American philosopher and professor emeritus at Rice University, where he taught from 1983 to 2022. Crowell earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Yale University in 1981. Govert Schüller (born 1959) is a Dutch-American author who writes about Jiddu Krishnamurti and theosophy. Parmenides
Parmenides of Elea (; grc-gre, Παρμενίδης ὁ Ἐλεάτης; ) was a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher from Elea in Magna Graecia. Parmenides was born in the Greek colony of Elea, from a wealthy and illustrious family.
