The Whispering Skull (novel)
''The Whispering Skull'' is a young adult thriller novel by Jonathan Stroud. It is the second book in the '' Lockwood & Co.'' series. It was released on the 26 February 2015 in the UK by Corgi Children's, and released on the 16 September 2014 in the US by Disney-Hyperion. The Whispering Skull was mentioned in an article of The Daily Telegraph twice in March 2015. Synopsis After months of not having any cases to solve, Lockwood makes a bet with their rivals, the Fittes agency, and whoever loses has to admit their defeat in the newspaper. Soon after Lockwood & Co. have a customer called Mr. Saunders who wants Lockwood & Co. to come and seal Edmund Bickerstaff's coffin. All goes well until George trips and falls into the coffin releasing a horrible phantom, as well as a powerful Source which kills whoever looks into it. Jonathan Stroud
Jonathan Anthony Stroud (born 27 October 1970) is a British writer of fantasy fiction, best known for the ''Bartimaeus'' young adult sequence and '' Lockwood & Co.'' children's series. His books are typically set in an alternate history London with fantasy elements, and have received note for his satire, and use of magic to reflect themes of class struggle. The ''Bartimaeus'' sequence is the recipient of the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire and Mythopoeic Fantasy Awards. Stroud's works have also been featured on ALA Notable lists of books for children and young adults. In 2020, Netflix announced a TV series based on ''Lockwood & Co.'', with filming initiated in July 2021. The American Library Association's Amazing Audiobooks for Young Adults, formerly Selected Audiobooks for Young Adults, is a recommendation list of audiobooks presented yearly by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) division. The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library is located on Lafayette Square, Buffalo, New York. The current facility, designed by Kideney Architects and built in 1964, replaced the original Cyrus Eidlitz Buffalo Public Library Building dedicated in February 1887.
