''The Ultimates'' is a 2002-2004 thirteen-issue comic book limited series written by Mark Millar with art by Bryan Hitch. The series introduces the titular Ultimates, the Ultimate Marvel incarnations of the Avengers. Publication history ''The Ultimates'' debuted in March 2002, and ran for thirteen issues. Bryan Hitch describes his Ultimates work as "widescreen, cinematic compositions" and has expressed his interest of translating his work for movies. This miniseries was affected by delays and the artist admits to having to work hard to recover from reputation as a slow artist after his work on the first Ultimates series stating "‘Cause I think people still now see me as an unreliable artist." Bryan Hitch
Bryan Hitch (born 22 April 1970) is a British comics artist and writer. Hitch began his career in the United Kingdom for Marvel UK, working on titles such as ''Action Force'' and ''Death's Head'', before gaining prominence on American titles such as Wildstorm's ''Stormwatch'' and '' The Authority'', DC Comics' '' JLA'', and Marvel Comics' ''The Ultimates''. Hitch's artwork and designs have appeared in direct-to-video animated films, television, and major feature films, such as the 2009 film ''Star Trek'', for which he has been praised by director J. J. Abrams. Early life Bryan Hitch was born 22 April 1970 in what he described as "in the far northern reaches of England." Chitauri
The Chitauri () are a fictional race of extraterrestrial shapeshifters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, specifically in Ultimate Marvel. They were created by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch for the Ultimate universe franchise in place of the existing Marvel Comics alien species, the Skrulls, which play a similar role in the franchise's mainstream continuity.
