The Thrill Chaser
''The Thrill Chaser'' is a 1923 American silent Western film directed by Edward Sedgwick and featuring Hoot Gibson. Plot As described in a film magazine, Omar K. Jenkins' (Gibson) only inheritance from an eccentric father is a copy of the ''Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam''. Only one of the verses conveys any meaning to him: “A book of verses underneath a bough, a loaf of bread, a jug of wine and thou.” He is reading it under a tree when he finds himself face to face with the “thou" of his dreams. They strike up an immediate friendship over the book of poems, when suddenly the whistle from the locomotive warns them her train is about to start. He aids her in making the train, riding alongside the moving cars and passing her from his horse to the platform. He has forgotten to get her name. Edward Sedgwick
Edward Sedgwick (November 7, 1889 – March 7, 1953) was an American film director, writer, actor and producer. Early life He was born in Galveston, Texas, the son of Edward Sedgwick, Sr. and Josephine Walker, both stage actors. At the age of four, young Edward Sedgwick joined his show business family in what was then the Sedgwick Comedy Company, a vaudeville act, doing a "singing speciality". He played child parts and did vaudeville acts until he was seven, when he was given his first comedy part, that of an Irish immigrant, in a comedy written by his father called ''Just Over''. Bob Reeves (actor)
Robert Reeves (January 28, 1892 – April 12, 1960) was an American Western movie actor. Early years Robert Jasper Reeves was born in Marlin, Texas, the son of George Patton Reeves and Frances Luella Garrett, in 1892. He attended Marlin High School and Texas A&M University. During World War I he served in the United States Army in the Coast Artillery in California, and was discharged in December, 1918. Career Reeves won championships in rodeo competition and worked as a stunt double for Universal before he became an actor. His film career began as early as 1919, when he starred in an 18-chapter serial, ''The Great Radium Mystery''. He appeared in a number of silent films and sixteen sound films. In 1921 he was teamed with Marion Aye in a series of 18 Cactus Features directed by Albert S. Rogell. Laura La Plante (born Laura Laplante; November 1, 1904 – October 14, 1996) was an American film actress, whose more notable performances were in the silent era. Early life La Plante was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 1, 1904, the daughter of William A. Laplante and Elizabeth E. Turk. Her father taught dancing. After her parents were divorced, her mother took Laura and her sister Violet to live in San Diego, California.
