Anechoic Chamber
An anechoic chamber (''an-echoic'' meaning "non-reflective") is a room designed to stop reflections of either sound or electromagnetic waves. They are also often isolated from energy entering from their surroundings. This combination means that a person or detector exclusively hears direct sounds (no reflected sounds), in effect simulating being outside in a free field. Anechoic chambers, a term coined by American acoustics expert Leo Beranek, were initially exclusively used to refer to acoustic anechoic chambers. Recently, the term has been extended to other RF and Sonar anechoic chambers, which eliminate reflection and external noise caused by electromagnetic waves. Anechoic chambers range from small compartments the size of household microwave ovens to ones as large as aircraft hangars. The size of the chamber depends on the size of the objects and frequency ranges being tested. Acoustic anechoic chambers The requirement for what was subsequently called an anechoic ...

Padded Cell
A padded cell is a cell in a psychiatric hospital with cushions lining the walls. The padding is an attempt to prevent patients from hurting themselves by hitting their head (or other bodily parts) on the hard surface of the walls. In most cases, an individual's placement in a padded cell is involuntary. Other names used are "rubber room", seclusion room, time out room, calming room, quiet room, or personal safety room. Use The length of time patients were kept in a padded cell varied greatly. Some patients remained locked in a padded cell for several days. A patient might also be made to wear a straitjacket if they were considered at risk of self-harm. The use of padded cells and straitjackets declined drastically following the introduction of psychotropic drugs in the 1950s. Personal Safety Rooms are still used throughout the world and can be beneficial in providing a safe environment for not only occupants but also staff, and can prevent work-related injuries in the facilit ...

''In a Quiet Room'' is the eleventh album released by country music artist Dan Seals and his only album on the Intersound label. This album consists mostly of acoustic versions of songs featured on earlier albums, as well as two songs — " I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" and " Love Is the Answer" — that he originally recorded as one-half of the soft rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley. "I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" and "The Healin' Kind" were both released as singles. Critical reception Thom Owens of AllMusic gave the album two stars out of five, saying, "It's a pleasant album, yet it doesn't offer any new revelations or great performances."
