The Pilot (film)
''The Pilot'' (also known as ''Danger in the Skies'') is a 1980 American action-drama film by director and star Cliff Robertson and is based on the novel of the same name by Robert P. Davis. Plot summary Mike Hagan is an airline pilot of nineteen years experience. He started off in the open cockpit as a crop duster. A cool, capable aviator, he is being considered by his airline for its pilot of the year award. However, this façade conceals a troubled man with a failing marriage who is an alcoholic. The film opens as he awakens hungover and begins the day with a stiff drink and an argument with his shrewish wife. The only bright spots in his life are his loving relationship with his daughter Cricket and his girlfriend Pat. Hagan's skill at the controls is shown when he guides his plane through turbulence that almost causes another airliner to crash. Cliff Robertson
Clifford Parker Robertson III (September 9, 1923 – September 10, 2011) was an American actor whose career in film and television spanned over six decades. Robertson portrayed a young John F. Kennedy in the 1963 film '' PT 109'', and won the 1968 Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the film '' Charly''. On television, Robertson portrayed retired astronaut Buzz Aldrin in the 1976 TV film adaptation of Aldrin's autobiographic ''Return to Earth'', played a fictional character based on Director of Central Intelligence Richard Helms in the 1977 miniseries '' Washington: Behind Closed Doors'', and portrayed Henry Ford in '' Ford: The Man and the Machine'' (1987). ''Flight'' is a 2012 American drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by John Gatins and produced by Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald, Steve Starkey, Zemeckis and Jack Rapke. It stars Denzel Washington as William "Whip" Whitaker Sr., an alcoholic airline pilot who miraculously crash-lands his plane after a mechanical failure, saving nearly everyone on board. Edward Binns (September 12, 1916 – December 4, 1990) was an American actor. He had a wide-spanning career in film and television, often portraying competent, hard working and purposeful characters in his various roles. He is best known for his work in acclaimed films as ''12 Angry Men'' (1957), ''North by Northwest'' (1959), ''Judgment at Nuremberg'' (1961), ''Fail Safe'' (1964), ''The Americanization of Emily'' (1964), ''Patton'' (1970) and ''The Verdict'' (1982).
