The Outfield
The Outfield were an English rock band based in London, England. The band achieved success in the mid-1980s and are best remembered for their hit single, " Your Love". The band's lineup consisted of guitarist John Spinks, vocalist and bassist Tony Lewis, and drummer Alan Jackman. They had an unusual experience for a British band in that they enjoyed commercial success in the US, but never in their homeland. The band began recording during the mid-1980s, and released their first album, ''Play Deep'', in 1985 through Columbia Records. The album reached No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 list and then reached triple platinum in the United States. The band's single "Your Love" reached No. 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 as well as No. 7 on the Mainstream Rock chart, and it became their signature song. Tony Lewis (musician)
Tony Lewis (21 December 195719 October 2020) was an English singer and musician. He was the lead singer and bassist of the pop-rock band The Outfield, best known for their hit single " Your Love". After a long career with that band, Lewis began work as a solo artist, releasing his first album ''Out of the Darkness'' in 2018 on Madison Records. Early life Lewis was born on 21 December 1957 in the East End of London and grew up in a tough, working-class neighbourhood. Music served as a bright spot in his life, and his love for music started early. The radio was always on in Lewis’ home, and his first influences were classics of the 1960s. At age 9 Lewis first heard the Beatles, and he was immediately hooked by the British rock band. Later he became a big fan of T. ''Any Time Now'' is an album by British rock band The Outfield. Two versions of this album were released: one sold exclusively through the band's Web site and Tower Records, and the other issued by Sidewinder Records and distributed to music retail stores everywhere. ''Voices of Babylon'' is the third studio album by the British band The Outfield, released during the spring of 1989 and which spawned an eponymous single. It was the group's last album to feature drummer Alan Jackman until the release of ''Replay'' in 2011. It was also their final album on the Columbia label. Following the album's release, and with their commercial success slipping, the band parted ways with Jackman and hired Paul Read as a replacement for the album's tour. This album features a unique script similar to what is known as the Pigpen cipher. On the album cover, the script says "OUTFIELD" and the liner notes show the title of each album track in that script.
