The Nightmare Fair
''The Nightmare Fair'' is a story originally written for the 1986 season of ''Doctor Who'', but never filmed. A novelisation based on the script was published in 1989 by Target Books, as the first volume of its ''Missing Episodes'' series. The script and novelisation were written by former series producer Graham Williams, and would have been directed by Matthew Robinson had it gone to air. It is the first novel-length text featuring The Doctor not to be based upon a previously transmitted production, although being a novelisation it is not strictly speaking an "original" novel. An audio play closely based on Williams' script was released in May 2003, with profits going to the charity Sense. For this adaptation, the Sixth Doctor was played by Steve Hill, and Peri by Jennifer Adams Kelley. A second audio adaption, done by Big Finish, was released in 2009. Graham Williams (television Producer)
Richard Graham Williams (24 May 1945 – 17 August 1990) was an English television producer, script editor and screenwriter. He produced three seasons of the BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' during Tom Baker's era as the Fourth Doctor, the ITV children's series '' Super Gran'' (1986-1987), and thirteen episodes of '' Tales of the Unexpected'' (1982-1984). Early work After working as the script editor for ''The View From Daniel Pike'' (1971), ''Sutherland's Law'' (1973), ''Barlow at Large'' (1975) and ''Z-Cars'' (1975–1976), he was encouraged by Bill Slater, then BBC Head of Serials, to move to production. TARDIS
The TARDIS (; acronym for "Time And Relative Dimension In Space") is a fictional hybrid of the time machine and spacecraft that appears in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' and its various spin-offs. Its exterior appearance mimics a police box, an obsolete type of telephone kiosk that was once commonly seen on streets in Britain. Paradoxically, its interior is shown as being much larger than its exterior, commonly described as being "bigger on the inside". Due to the significance of ''Doctor Who'' in popular British culture, the shape of the police box is now more strongly associated with the TARDIS than its real-world inspiration. In film and video, a freeze frame is when a single frame of content shows repeatedly on the screen—"freezing" the action. This can be done in the content itself, by printing (on film) or recording (on video) multiple copies of the same source frame. This produces a static shot that resembles a still photograph. ''Freeze frame'' is a term in live stage performance, for a technique in which actors freeze at a particular point to enhance a scene or show an important moment in production. Philip Martin (3 July 1938 – 13 December 2020) was an English television screenwriter. He created the BBC television drama series ''Gangsters'' in the 1970s and later wrote two television serials for ''Doctor Who'' during Colin Baker's tenure as the Sixth Doctor in the 1980s. Career His early work included regular series such as ''Z-Cars'' in the late 1960s/early 1970s, but his most famous work is the postmodern television series ''Gangsters''. This was an examination of race seen through an increasingly surreal vision of Birmingham's criminal underworld. ''The Celestial Toymaker'' is the mostly missing sixth serial of the third season in the British science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 2 to 23 April 1966. In this serial, the alien time traveller the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and his travelling companions Steven (Peter Purves) and Dodo Chaplet ( Jackie Lane) are pitted against a powerful adversary called the Celestial Toymaker (Michael Gough). Time Lord
The Time Lords are a fictional ancient race of extraterrestrial people in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', of which the series' main protagonist, the Doctor, is a member. Time Lords are so named for their command of time travel technology and their non-linear perception of time. Originally, they were described as a powerful and wise race from the planet Gallifrey, from which the Doctor was a renegade; details beyond this were very limited for the first decade of the series. They later became integral to many episodes and stories as their role in the universe developed. For the first eight years after the series resumed in 2005, the Time Lords were said to have been destroyed during the Last Great Time War at some point in the show's continuity between the original series' cancellation in 1989 and the show's revival.
