The Nervous Wreck
''The Nervous Wreck'' is a 1926 American silent film, silent comedy film, comedy adventure film directed by Scott Sidney and starring Harrison Ford (silent film actor), Harrison Ford, Phyllis Haver and Chester Conklin.Connelly p.182 It is based on the play ''The Nervous Wreck'' by Owen Davis, inspired by an earlier story ''The Wreck'' by E.J. Rath. The play later became a musical on which the 1930 film ''Whoopee! (film), Whoopee!'' was based and also inspired the 1944 film ''Up in Arms''. Synopsis Wrongly believing himself to be suffering from a fatal illness, a Pittsburgh man sets out for Arizona but stops at a ranch for a meal on the way. There he is tricked into eloping with the daughter of the house, engaged to a local sheriff. The couple are subsequently pursued by the sheriff and the girl's father, and during a series of adventures he discovers that his poor health was all in his mind. Clarence Burton
Clarence Forrest Burton (May 10, 1882 – December 2, 1933) was an American silent film actor. Biography Burton was born in Fort Lyon, in Benton County, Missouri and started in show business at the age of 5, playing stock and musical comedy in road productions. He was signed into films in late 1912 and starred in 132 films between 1913 and 1932. By late 1920, Burton had become heavy enough to be considered unsuited for his typical villainous roles in films. A trainer supervised a program of exercise and diet until Burton had lost enough weight to be cast in the Paramount film ''The Jacklins''. He died of a heart attack in 1933 at the age of 51 in Hollywood, California. His interment was located at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, but was removed on September 6, 1950. Vera Steadman
Vera Steadman (June 23, 1900 – December 14, 1966) was an American film actress of the silent era. Steadman was born on June 23, 1900, in Monterey, California. Before she began working in films, Steadman was experienced as a swimmer, high diver, and classic dancer. Steadman appeared in more than 90 films between 1915 and 1941, in her first years appearing as one of the Sennett Bathing Beauties. She worked for Fox for four months before joining Universal, and she later made films for Christie Film Company. Her marriage to orchestra leader Jackie Taylor ended in divorce on June 14, 1923. On April 17, 1935, she married Martin Padway in Van Nuys. They were divorced on August 8, 1938. She married Joseph Milton Flynn in November, 1948, and they remained wed until her death. On December 14, 1966, Steadman died at age 65. Hobart Van Zandt Bosworth (August 11, 1867 – December 30, 1943) was an American film actor, director, writer, and producer. Early life Bosworth was born on August 11, 1867, in Marietta, Ohio. His father was a sea captain in the Civil War. When Bosworth was 12 years old, he ran away to sea. In June 1885, he was on shore leave in San Francisco when an opportunity arose for him to join McKee Rankin's stage company. That led to a theatrical career for him. Career Thinking he would like to become a landscape painter, a friend suggested that he work as a stage manager to raise the money to study art. Acting on his friend's advice, Bosworth obtained a job with McKee Rankin as a stage manager at the California Theatre in San Francisco. Earning some money, he undertook the study of painting.
