Mummy
A mummy is a dead human or an animal whose soft tissues and organs have been preserved by either intentional or accidental exposure to chemicals, extreme cold, very low humidity, or lack of air, so that the recovered body does not decay further if kept in cool and dry conditions. Some authorities restrict the use of the term to bodies deliberately embalmed with chemicals, but the use of the word to cover accidentally desiccated bodies goes back to at least 1615 AD (see the section Etymology and meaning). Mummies of humans and animals have been found on every continent, both as a result of natural preservation through unusual conditions, and as cultural artifacts. Over one million animal mummies have been found in Egypt, many of which are cats. Many of the Egyptian animal mummies are sacred ibis, and radiocarbon dating suggests the Egyptian Ibis mummies that have been analyzed were from time frame that falls between approximately 450 and 250 BC. In addition to the mummies ...

The Mummy, Or Ramses The Damned
''The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned'' is a 1989 horror novel by American writer Anne Rice. Taking place during the early twentieth century, it follows the collision between a British archeologist's family and a resurrected mummy. The novel ends with the statement, "The Adventures of Ramses the Damned Shall Continue", and twenty-eight years later, Rice fulfilled this promise with '' Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra'', written in collaboration with her son, novelist Christopher Rice. A third jointly-authored novel in this series, ''Ramses the Damned: The Reign of Osiris,'' was released on February 1, 2022, two months after Anne Rice's death. Plot introduction During the Edwardian period in 1914, a wealthy shipping-magnate-turned- archaeologist, Lawrence Stratford, discovers an unusual tomb. The mummy inside, in its left-behind notes, claims to be the famed pharaoh Ramses II, despite the tomb's dating only to the first century B.C. (the historical Ramses II died in 1224 ...

Mummification (BDSM)
Bondage in the BDSM subculture, is the practice of consensually tying, binding, or restraining a partner for erotic, aesthetic, or somatosensory stimulation. A partner may be physically restrained in a variety of ways, including the use of rope, cuffs, bondage tape, or self-adhering bandage. Bondage itself does not necessarily imply sadomasochism. Bondage may be used as an end in itself, as in the case of rope bondage and breast bondage. It may also be used as a part of sex or in conjunction with other BDSM activities. The letter "B" in the acronym "BDSM" comes from the word "bondage". Sexuality and erotica are an important aspect in bondage, but are often not the end in itself. Aesthetics also plays an important role in bondage. A common reason for the active partner to tie up their partner is so both may gain pleasure from the restrained partner's submission and the feeling of the temporary transfer of control and power. For sadomasochistic people, bondage is ofte ...

Aleiodes
''Aleiodes'' (Greek "not", "smooth", "appearance") is a genus of the family Braconidae of parasitoid wasps described by Constantin Wesmael in 1838. They are also known as mummy-wasps. The female attacks caterpillars of various species, including many pests such as Gypsy moths and tent caterpillars, and then deposits eggs in the caterpillars. The eggs hatch and the wasp larva feeds on the caterpillar, leaving a hardened caterpillar skin, or mummy. The wasp pupates within the mummy and eventually the adult breaks out, leaving a small hole in the husk of the caterpillar. There are thousands of species, including: *''Aleiodes cacuangoi'' named after Dolores Cacuango *'' Aleiodes colberti'' named after Stephen Colbert *''Aleiodes coxalis'' *''Aleiodes dangerlingi'' named after Dan Gerling *''Aleiodes elleni'' named after Ellen DeGeneres *''Aleiodes falloni'' named after Jimmy Fallon *''Aleiodes frosti'' named after Robert Frost (American poet) *''Aleiodes gaga'' named aft ...

Mummy Paper
Mummy paper is paper that is claimed to be made from the linen wrappings and other fibers (e.g. papyrus) from Egyptian mummies imported to America circa 1855. The existence of this paper has not been conclusively confirmed, but it has been widely discussed. History The history of mummy paper in America is intimately connected with the history of both American papermaking and papermaking in general. Supply shortages Paper can be said to have been born in ancient Egypt, circa 3000 B.C., with the invention of what the Romans called “papyrus”, based on an earlier Greek name for the material. Papyrus is not paper in the modern sense of the word, since it was formed from compressed sheets of reed stalks and not a pulp. Paper made from a pulped plant fiber can be credited to Ts’ai Lun of China in 105 A.D., when he first presented the Emperor a sheet of paper made from the inner bark of a mulberry tree. When the technique of papermaking found its way into Europe, paper was m ...

Mummy Brown
Mummy brown, also called Egyptian brown, is a rich brown bituminous pigment, intermediate in tint between burnt umber and raw umber, and was one of the favourite colours of the Pre-Raphaelites. History Mummy brown was originally made in the 16th and 17th centuries from white pitch, myrrh, and the ground-up remains of ancient Egyptian mummies (both human and feline), but also Guanche mummies of Canary Islands. As it had good transparency, it could be used for glazes, shadows, flesh tones and shading.McCouat, Philip"The life and death of Mummy Brown", ''Journal of Art in Society'' However, in addition to its tendency to crack, it was extremely variable in its composition and quality, and since it contained ammonia and particles of fat, was likely to affect other colours with which it was used. Historically, demand for mummy brown sometimes outstripped the available supply of true Egyptian mummies, leading to occasional substitution of contemporary corpses of slaves or crimina ...

Mummia
Mummia, mumia, or originally mummy referred to several different preparations in the history of medicine, from "mineral pitch" to "powdered human mummies". It originated from Arabic ''mūmiyā'' "a type of resinous bitumen found in Western Asia and used curatively" in traditional Islamic medicine, which was translated as ''pissasphaltus'' (from "pitch" and "asphalt") in ancient Greek medicine. In medieval European medicine, ''mūmiyā'' "bitumen" was transliterated into Latin as ''mumia'' meaning both "a bituminous medicine from Persia" and "mummy". Merchants in apothecaries dispensed expensive mummia bitumen, which was thought to be an effective cure-all for many ailments. It was also used as an aphrodisiac. Beginning around the 12th century when supplies of imported natural bitumen ran short, mummia was misinterpreted as "mummy", and the word's meaning expanded to "a black resinous exudate scraped out from embalmed Egyptian mummies". This began a period of lucrative tra ...

The Mummies
The Mummies are an American garage punk band formed in San Bruno, California, in 1988. Exhibiting a defiantly raw and lo-fi sound, dubbed "budget rock", the Mummies' rebellious attitude and distinctive performance costumes exerted a major influence on garage punk and garage rock revival acts later in the decade, as well as in the 1990s. Their recorded output was intentionally completed with poor, cheap equipment, including their first and only studio album '' Never Been Caught'', which was released after the group's initial break-up. Since then, the Mummies have engaged in several positively-received reunion concerts and tours, including appearances in Europe and the US sporadically through to recent years. The band is currently working on a movie. History Formed in late 1988 by Trent Ruane (lead singer, organ, saxophone) and Maz Kattuah (bass guitar), the band's lineup also included Larry Winther (lead guitar), and Russell Quan ( drums). The group became a key musical forc ...

Good Blood Headbanguers
''Good Blood Headbanguers''  is the second and currently last studio album by fictional heavy metal band Massacration. The title is a literal translation to English of the Brazilian colloquial expression "sangue bom", meaning a trustworthy person, while the intentional misspelling of "headbangers" is a reference to the fact that the digraph ''ge'' is written as ''gue'' in Portuguese. Originally slated for a 2007 release, after a series of delays due to label issues it eventually came out on October 10, 2009 through EMI; its cover art was officially unveiled to the public three days prior alongside an outtake of their previous album ''Gates of Metal Fried Chicken of Death'', "Anal Weapon War". Produced by Roy Z, famous for his work with other bands and artists such as Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest, Helloween, Halford and Sebastian Bach, it sees the group heading towards a faster, more aggressive sonority influenced by thrash metal, but also experimenting with glam metal ...
