In public transit, this typically takes a few minutes at a trip terminal. For air travel, where layovers are longer, passengers will exit the vehicle and wait in the terminal, often to board another vehicle traveling elsewhere. A stopover is a longer form of layover, allowing time to leave the transport system for sightseeing or overnight accommodation. ''Layover'' is a novel by the American writer, Lisa Zeidner, first published in 1999 by Random House. It is one of ''New York Times Notable Books of the Year. The novel focuses on the theme of maternal grief. A film adaptation of ''Layover'' was announced in 2016. As of May 2022, the film has not been released. Description After her young son is killed in a car accident and her husband, a surgeon, admits during sex to having had an affair, the protagonist Claire Newbold – a successful medical sales representative in her early forties – fails to return home from a business trip. She drifts, staying in hotel rooms without paying, obsessively swimming in their pools and becoming adept at evading both hotel security and her husband's calls. ''The Layover'' is a travel and food show on the Travel Channel hosted by Anthony Bourdain. The show premiered on November 21, 2011 in an episode based on Singapore. The format and the content of the show are based on what a traveler can do, eat, visit and enjoy within 24 to 48 hours in a city. Each episode starts with the host landing at the city, with the clock starting the countdown until the time that he will leave the city. As a seasoned traveler, he meets up with locals and explores the city in and out, within matters of hours, both the touristy way and the local way. ''The Layover EP'' is the first solo extended play by American rapper and record producer Evidence. It was released on November 25, 2008, via Decon. Recording sessions took place at Soundproof East, Chop Shop Studios, The Ether, The Lab NYC, Dirt Class West, Daddy's Crib, Soundproof West, Studio 1, Dirty Science Lab 12. Production was handled by The Alchemist, Khrysis, DJ Babu, Sid Roams, and Evidence himself. It features guest appearances from Aloe Blacc, Blu, Defari, Elzhi, Fashawn, Krondon, Phonte and Will.i.am. The album didn't reach the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, however, it peaked at No. 27 on the Heatseekers Albums in the United States, and received generally favourable reviews from music critics. ''The Layover'' is a 2017 American sex comedy film directed by William H. Macy and written by David Hornsby and Lance Krall, starring Alexandra Daddario, Kate Upton, Matt Barr, Matt L.
