''The Edie Adams Show'' (also ''Here's Edie'' ) is an American variety television show that ran on ABC from September 16, 1963, until March 19, 1964. Its time slot was Thursdays from 10 to 10:30 p.m. Eastern time. Edie Adams starred in the show. Regular performers were Don Chastain, Peter Hanley, the Paul Godkin Dancers, and the Randy Rayburn Singers. The Peter Matz Orchestra provided the music. On September 19, 1963, Adams and Sid Caesar appeared together in a one-hour program on ABC. Thereafter, Caesar's and Adams's programs alternated in the 10 p.m. Thursday time slot. Variety Show
Variety show, also known as variety arts or variety entertainment, is entertainment made up of a variety of acts including musical performances, sketch comedy, magic, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. It is normally introduced by a compère (master of ceremonies) or host. The variety format made its way from the Victorian era stage in Britain and America to radio and then television. Variety shows were a staple of English language television from the late 1940s into the 1980s. While still widespread in some parts of the world, such as in the United Kingdom with the '' Royal Variety Performance'', and South Korea with '' Running Man'', the proliferation of multichannel television and evolving viewer tastes have affected the popularity of variety shows in the United States. Bobby Darin
Bobby Darin (born Walden Robert Cassotto; May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973) was an American musician and actor. He performed jazz, pop, rock and roll, folk, swing, and country music. He started his career as a songwriter for Connie Francis. He recorded his first million-selling single, " Splish Splash", in 1958. That was followed by "Dream Lover", " Mack the Knife", and " Beyond the Sea", which brought him worldwide fame. Charlie Sanford Brill (born January 13, 1938, Brooklyn, New York) is an American actor, voice artist, and comedian. Acting Brill's first motion picture was ''The Beast of Budapest''. He appeared in '' Blackbeard's Ghost'' and ''The Amazing Dobermans''. He played Klingon spy Arne Darvin in the ''Star Trek'' episode "The Trouble with Tribbles" (1967) and reprised the role nearly 30 years later in the ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" (1996). André Previn
André George Previn (; born Andreas Ludwig Priwin; April 6, 1929 – February 28, 2019) was a German-American pianist, composer, and conductor. His career had three major genres: Hollywood films, jazz, and classical music. In each he achieved success, and the latter two were part of his life until the end. In movies, he arranged and composed music. In jazz, he was a celebrated trio pianist, a piano-accompanist to singers of standards, and pianist-interpreter of songs from the "Great American Songbook". In classical music, he also performed as a pianist but gained television fame as a conductor, and during his last thirty years created his legacy as a composer of art music. Alois Maxwell "Al" Hirt (November 7, 1922 – April 27, 1999) was an American trumpeter and bandleader. He is best remembered for his million-selling recordings of "Java" and the accompanying album ''Honey in the Horn'' (1963), and for the theme music to ''The Green Hornet''. His nicknames included "Jumbo" and "The Round Mound of Sound". Thomas Richard Martin (January 30, 1922 – May 24, 2008), known professionally as Dick Martin, was an American comedian and director. He was known for his role as the co-host of the sketch comedy program ''Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In'' from 1968 to 1973.
