The Connection (band)
Geoff Palmer (Geoffrey Palmer born January 17, 1980, in Wakefield, Massachusetts, United States), also known by the stage name Geoff Useless, is an American musician from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, now living in Madison, Wisconsin. He played bass and provided backing vocals for The Queers straight out of high school, and played guitar and did lead vocals for The Guts and The Nobodys. In early 2011, he did a folk punk solo project with other musicians around Portsmouth called The Geoff Useless (Band). Currently, he co-writes songs for, and plays lead guitar in, a traditional rock and roll /powerpop band called The Connection. The Connection's debut album ''New England's Newest Hit Makers'' was released in the Summer of 2011. It, and subsequent releases, captured the attention of Steve Van Zandt, E Street Band member and creator of the popular Sirius XM Radio Station, Little Steven's Underground Garage. Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Portsmouth is a city in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census it had a population of 21,956. The Medallions were an American doo-wop vocal group led by Vernon Green (1937–2000). History The group formed in Los Angeles, California, United States, in 1954, after Vernon Green was heard singing on the street by Walter "Dootsie" Williams, the owner of Dootone Records. Punk Rock Confidential (album)
''Punk Rock Confidential'' is the sixth full-length album by pop punk band The Queers and their first album released on Hopeless Records. Background and recording After the 1996 album '' Don't Back Down'', The Queers went through changes, including founding member Joe King getting clean from drugs and alcohol, drummer Hugh O'Neill leaving due to health issues and bassist B-Face moving over to the Groovie Ghoulies. The lineup change also caused their longtime label Lookout! Records to drop them. With new members Geoff Useless and Rick Respectable, the band released ''Everything's O.K. EP'' which became their first release on Hopeless Records. The band followed that up by recording ''Punk Rock Confidential'' in Big Sound Studios, in Westbrook, ME and Sonic Iguana in Lafayette, IN. ''Standing in the Spotlight'' is the first solo studio album by Dee Dee Ramone released in 1989, under the rap moniker Dee Dee King. The album is sometimes considered to be one of the biggest failures in recording history. Musically, the songs vary from old school hip hop and doo-wop (e.g., "Mashed Potato Time", "Commotion In The Ocean") to rock and roll (e.g., "Baby Doll") and punk rock (e.g. "Poor Little Rich Girl", "The Crusher"). In an article for '' The Village Voice'' in 2014, Chaz Kangas wrote that the album "sound less like a rap record and more like a Ramones album that has rapping on it". Dee Dee Ramone
Douglas Glenn Colvin (September 18, 1951 – June 5, 2002), better known by his stage name Dee Dee Ramone, was an American musician. He was the bassist and a founding member of the punk rock band Ramones. Throughout the band's existence, he was the most prolific lyricist and composer, writing many of their best-known songs, such as " 53rd & 3rd", " Chinese Rock", "Commando", "Wart Hog", " Rockaway Beach", "Poison Heart" and "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg" (also known as "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down"). The latter won the New York Music Award for best independent single of the year in 1986, while '' Animal Boy'', which the song is from, won for best album. Ramones Covers Album Series
Between 1993 and 2000, a series of Ramones covers albums were released by Selfless Records (later Clearview Records), an independent record label based in Garland, Texas specializing in punk rock, on which bands influenced by seminal punk group the Ramones performed cover versions of entire Ramones albums. Under the Selfless label, Screeching Weasel, the Queers, and the Vindictives respectively covered the first three Ramones albums: '' Ramones'' (1976), '' Rocket to Russia'' (1977), and '' Leave Home'' (1977). Selfless then became Clearview Records and continued the series, with Boris the Sprinkler, the Parasites, the Mr. T Experience, the Beatnik Termites, and the McRackins respectively covering '' End of the Century'' (1980), '' It's Alive'' (1979), '' Road to Ruin'' (1978), ''Pleasant Dreams'' (1981), and '' Too Tough to Die'' (1984). E Street Band
The E Street Band is an American rock band, and has been musician Bruce Springsteen's primary backing band since 1972. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Wakefield, Massachusetts
Wakefield is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts in the Greater Boston metropolitan area, incorporated in 1812 and located about north-northwest of Downtown Boston.
