''The Buckaroo Kid'' is a 1926 American silent Western film directed by Lynn Reynolds and starring Hoot Gibson. It was produced and distributed by Universal Pictures and is based on the short story ''Oh, Promise Me'' by Peter B. Kyne that appeared in Collier's Magazine on August 20, 1926. A copy survives in the Museum of Modern Art. Lynn Reynolds
Lynn Fairfield Reynolds (May 7, 1889 – February 25, 1927) was an American director and screenwriter. Reynolds directed more than 80 films between 1915 and 1928. He also wrote for 58 films between 1914 and 1927. Reynolds was born in Harlan, Iowa and died in Los Angeles, California, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Death Returning home in 1927 after being snowbound in the Sierras for three weeks, Reynolds telephoned his wife, actress Kathleen O'Connor, to arrange a dinner party at their Hollywood home with another couple. During the dinner, Reynolds and O'Connor engaged in a heated quarrel in which each accused the other of infidelity. With his guests following in an attempt to calm him down, Reynolds left the table to retrieve a pistol from another room where he shot himself in the head. James Gordon (actor)
James Gordon (April 23, 1871 – May 12, 1941) was an American silent film actor. He appeared in more than 120 films between 1911 and 1935. He also directed 4 films between 1913 and 1915, including the 1915 film ''The New Adventures of J. Rufus Wallingford''. Gordon was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 23, 1871. He died on May 12, 1941, in Hollywood, California, aged 70, from post-surgical complications. He is buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Arthur Millett (April 21, 1874 in Pittsfield, Maine – February 24, 1952 in Los Angeles, California), born Arthur Nelson Millett, was an early American motion picture actor whose career was at its height in the silent film era. Biography Born in 1874, Millett was signed on to appear in his first film relatively late in life at age 40 in 1914, but immediately work began to pick up. His first film ''The Lost Treasure'' was released in 1914. In 1915, he starred in films such as '' Coals of Fire'' and '' The Law of the Wilds'', working with prolific actors such as Harry von Meter and Vivian Rich. Millett starred in a total of 116 film in his career. With the advent of sound films, however, his career declined significantly. In the majority of the roles in his 60 or so films after 1927, Millett was uncredited. Millett was married to actress Neva Gerber. He retired from film in 1940 and died in 1952.
