The Bob Crosby Show
''The Bob Crosby Show'' can refer to either of two television programs in the United States. One was broadcast in the afternoons on CBS September 14, 1953 – August 30, 1957. The other was broadcast in prime time on NBC June 14, 1958 – September 6, 1958, as a summer replacement for Perry Como's show. Personnel Singer/bandleader Bob Crosby was the host and star of both programs. Other entertainers on the CBS version included Joan O'Brien, Cathy Crosby and The Modernaires. The announcers were Steve Dunne and Jack Narz. Crosby's Bobcats orchestra provided instrumental music. The NBC program featured Gretchen Wyler, The Clay Warnick Singers and The Peter Gennaro Dancers. Carl Hoff led the orchestra, and the producer was Louis DaPron. Bob Crosby
George Robert Crosby (August 23, 1913 – March 9, 1993) was an American jazz singer and bandleader, best known for his group the Bob-Cats, which formed around 1935. The Bob-Cats were a New Orleans Dixieland-style jazz octet. He was the younger brother of famed singer and actor Bing Crosby. On TV, Bob Crosby guest-starred in ''The Gisele MacKenzie Show''. He was also a regular cast member of ''The Jack Benny Program,'' on both radio and television, taking over the role of bandleader after Phil Harris' departure. Jack Narz
John Lawrence Narz Jr. (November 13, 1922 – October 15, 2008) was an American radio personality, television host, and singer. Early years Narz was born to John and Ado Narz, in Louisville, Kentucky, along with sister Mary, and younger brother James Edward (1927–2020). James later changed his name to Tom Kennedy and went on to have his own career as a television host. Narz served as a military fighter pilot during World War II, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for missions flown in the China-Burma theater. Career Radio After his military service, Narz attended the Don Martin School of Radio Arts in Hollywood, where he received his broadcasting diploma in June 1947. Paula Kelly (April 6, 1919 – April 2, 1992) was an American big band singer. Early life Kelly was born in Grove City, Pennsylvania, United States. to Dr. Herbert Augustus & Julia Clarice (née Kennedy) Kelly. Kelly started her singing career in her hometown with her two sisters Julia and Martha; following Martha's death in September, 1938 she turned to big time singing. Career Kelly sang with orchestras led by Dick Stabile, Artie Shaw, and Al Donahue. In early 1941, she joined Glenn Miller's orchestra, replacing Dorothy Claire and Marion Hutton. Kelly originally performed solo, but also soon became the female lead of The Modernaires, originally a male trio, then a quartet, resulting in the group becoming a quintet of four male singers and herself. Francis Michael Dunne (January 13, 1918– September 2, 1977) was an American actor, radio personality and disc jockey. He was active on television and in films from 1945–73, and was also credited as Steve Dunn, Michael Dunne, Stephan Dunne, and Steve Dunne. Early years Dunne was born in Northampton, Massachusetts. He majored in drama and journalism during his two-and-a-half years at the University of Alabama. While there, he worked at a local radio station and "found himself in love with the business." Joan Marie O'Brien (born February 14, 1936) is an American actress and singer. She made a name for herself acting in television shows in the 1950s and 1960s and as a film co-star with Cary Grant, Elvis Presley, John Wayne, and Jerry Lewis. Early life Joan O'Brien was born to David and Rita O'Brien on Valentine's Day 1936, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
