State Highway 81 (SH 81) is a Texas state highway that runs from Hillsboro to Grandview. It was designated in 1991 to replace U.S. Highway 81, which was decommissioned south of Fort Worth. Route description SH 81 begins along the ramp from northbound I-35's exit 364B; the route is accessible from the southbound freeway at exit 364A for FM 310. It travels north into Hillsboro along Abbott Avenue. SH 81 has a half-mile concurrency with SH 22/ SH 171 through the city's downtown before continuing northward along Waco Street. At the northern edge of Hillsboro, the highway has an interchange with Spur 579, which provides access to I-35, as well as US 77, just south of the point at which the freeway splits into I-35W and I-35E. Hillsboro, Texas
Hillsboro is a city in and the county seat of Hill County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,221 at the 2020 census. History Hillsboro was named for Hill County. At one point during Bonnie and Clyde's robberies in Hillsboro, they took the Peterson family hostage at their own farm. Later the Petersons said that Bonnie and Clyde held them at gunpoint until they surrendered their barn for them to sleep in for a few nights before running again. The city is known for its abundance of restored Victorian homes and its historic county courthouse, which on January 1, 1993, was heavily damaged by an electrical fire. It was rebuilt, courtesy of donations from around the world and two concerts sponsored by Hill County native Willie Nelson. The courthouse won the Downtown Association's 1999 award for "Best Restoration". The renovation sparked an interest in restoring Texas's historic courthouses. State Highway 16 (SH 16) is a south–north state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that runs from Zapata on the boundary with Mexico to U.S. Highway 281 south of Wichita Falls. Strawn is a city in Palo Pinto County, Texas, United States. The population was 653 at the 2010 census. Strawn, on State highways 16 and 108, Farm Road 2372, and the Missouri Pacific Railroad in southwestern Palo Pinto County, was one of several towns developed about 1880 when the Texas and Pacific Railway began service. The site, known earlier as North Fork for its location on Palo Pinto Creek, was laid out on the land of two early ranchers, Stephen Bethel Strawn and James N. Stuart. State Highway 22 (SH 22) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that travels from Corsicana to Hamilton in the north central part of the state. History SH 22 was one of the 25 original state highways proposed on June 21, 1917, along a path from Wichita Falls to Comanche. State Highway 20 (SH 20) is a highway maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) that runs from New Mexico State Road 460 at the state line between Texas and New Mexico at Anthony in El Paso County to Interstate 10 at McNary in Hudspeth County. It largely follows a former alignment of U.S. Route 80. The route passes through the city of El Paso as well as suburban and rural farming communities along the Rio Grande. State Highway 124 (SH 124) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The highway begins along the Gulf Coast near the northeast end of the Bolivar Peninsula at SH 87 and extends to the northeast ending at US 69 and US 96. De Leon ( ) is a city located in Comanche County in the U.S. state of Texas. Its population was 2,246 in the 2022 census. It is commonly associated with being named after the Spanish explorer Ponce de León, but the town is actually named for its location on the Leon River (''de León'' in Spanish), which flows directly north and east of the community, and drains into nearby Proctor Lake. Texas State Highway 29
State Highway 29 (SH 29) runs from south of Menard, Texas, east to SH 95 in Circleville (6.0 miles north of Taylor) via Mason, Llano, Burnet, Liberty Hill, and Georgetown in central Texas, United States. In Georgetown, SH 29 is known as University Avenue and is the main east–west artery through the city, passing in front of Southwestern University, which has been on the same road since its Georgetown campus opened in 1873. An open house meeting at East View High School in Georgetown was held on September 1, 2015. The meeting's purpose was to review the upcoming plans on widening SH 29 from 2 lanes (80 ft.) to 6 lanes (160 ft.).
