Terry Fox Secondary School
Terry Fox Secondary School is a school with approximately 1550 students in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. The original building was built in the 1950s under the name "Port Coquitlam Senior Secondary" for grades 11 and 12. In 1986, it was renamed Terry Fox Senior Secondary School after 1976 graduate Terry Fox. The "Senior" was dropped from the name after a restructuring by Coquitlam School District 43, when junior high schools were replaced by middle schools. Terry Fox Secondary's Code of Conduct is compatible with the District Code of Conduct, The BC Human Rights Code, and they also acknowledge their own four pillars of Leadership, Integrity, Kindness, and Perseverance. In 1999, to help deal with the growing population, the school was relocated to a new, larger building, several kilometres away on Riverwood Gate. Port Coquitlam ( ) is a city in British Columbia, Canada. Located east of Vancouver, it is on the north bank of the confluence of the Fraser River and the Pitt River. Jamall Lee (born March 13, 1987) is a former professional Canadian football running back who played for three seasons for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and released at the end of the pre-season, making him an NFL free agent. Terrance Stanley Fox (July 28, 1958 June 28, 1981) was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian, and cancer research activist. In 1980, with one leg having been amputated due to cancer, he embarked on an east-to-west cross-Canada run to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Although the spread of his cancer eventually forced him to end his quest after 143 days and , and ultimately cost him his life, his efforts resulted in a lasting, worldwide legacy. The annual Terry Fox Run, first held in 1981, has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries and is now the world's largest one-day fundraiser for cancer research; over C$850 million has been raised in his name as of September 2022. Lynn Colliar (born 22 November 1967) is a Canadian television anchor. Biography Colliar was born in Scotland and grew up in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. She is a graduate of Port Coquitlam Senior Secondary and went on to SFU where she graduated with a degree in biology. Colliar worked at veterinary clinics as an assistant for seven years. She then enrolled in the two-year Broadcast Journalism program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Television career In 1991, Colliar went to work at Global BC, where she began as a newswriter before moving to a full-time reporting position. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sukhjivan Singh Chungh (born March 4, 1992) is a Canadian football offensive lineman for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played CIS football at University of Calgary and attended Terry Fox Secondary School in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. Early years Chungh's parents immigrated to Canada from India. He began playing football in the ninth grade and later won back-to-back lineman of the year honours at Terry Fox Secondary School.
