Tegeticula Intermedia
''Tegeticula intermedia'' is a moth of the family Prodoxidae. Along with other moth species, it is commonly known as a yucca moth. ''T. intermedia'' lives in North America, particularly the United States. The moth resides in the southwest, the Great Plains, the Southeast, and mid-Atlantic. It also has been found much farther north in regions of Canada like Ontario and Alberta. There are also notable populations present in New Mexico. Their habitats are diverse and vary in terms of climate, landscape, and other factors. The moth lives in sand dunes, forests (pine, pinyon, oak), glades, grassland, desert, and forests from the East Coast to the Southwest. Yucca moths have developed a strong mutualism with the yucca plant, such that both depend on each other for survival. The yucca moths and yucca plants have coevolved over millions of years. However, ''Tegeticula intermedia'' differs from most yucca moths in that it exhibits cheating behavior by laying eggs without pollinating the ...

Tegeticula Yuccasella
''Tegeticula yuccasella'', the yucca moth, is a moth of the family Prodoxidae. The species was first described by Charles Valentine Riley in 1872. It can be found in North America from Texas to southern Canada. The wingspan is 18–27 mm. The forewings are wide and blunt, usually white but occasionally with more or less tan. The hindwings are medium to light brownish gray.Pellmyr, Oll"''Tegeticula yuccasella'' (Riley)" ''Tree of Life Web Project''. Retrieved November 11, 2020. The larvae feed on ''Yucca filamentosa'', ''Yucca smalliana'', ''Yucca flaccida'', ''Yucca glauca'', ''Yucca arkansana'', ''Yucca constricta'', ''Yucca rupicola'', ''Yucca pallida'', ''Yucca reverchoni'' and ''Yucca aloifolia ''Yucca aloifolia''Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 319. 1753

Prodoxidae
The Prodoxidae are a family of moths, generally small in size and nondescript in appearance. They include species of moderate pest status, such as the currant shoot borer, and others of considerable ecological and evolutionary interest, such as various species of "yucca moths". Description and affinities Prodoxidae are a family of primitive monotrysian Lepidoptera. Some of these small-to-medium-sized moths are day flying, like ''Lampronia capitella'', known to European gardeners as the currant shoot borer. Others occur in Africa and Asia. The other common genera are generally confined to dry areas of the United States. ''Tetragma gei'' feeds on mountain avens (''Geum triflorum'') in the US. ''Greya politella'' lay eggs in the flowers of Saxifragaceae there. ''Prodoxoides asymmetra'' occurs in Chile and Argentina, but all other prodoxid moth genera have a northern distribution. The enigmatic genus ''Tridentaforma'' is sometimes placed here and assumed to be close to ''Lampronia ...

Tegeticula Antithetica
''Tegeticula antithetica'' is a species of moth in the family Prodoxidae. It is found in the Mojave Desert of the North American southwest, specifically southern California, southern Nevada, southwestern Utah, and western Arizona. The larvae feed on ''Yucca brevifolia''. Most ''Tegeticula'' species, including ''T. antithetica'', are monophagous, and the adult moths only live for a few days, so they must access the plant during the short flowering period. This indicates that moth populations would have to be locally adapted for the flowering periods their specific hosts. Godsoe, ''et al''. (2008) presented convincing evidence for coevolution of ''Tegeticula synthetica ''Tegeticula synthetica'' is a moth of the family Prodoxidae. ''Tegeticula maculata'' is a moth of the family Prodoxidae. It is found in North America in central-southern cismontane California, in the Sierra Nevada north to Fresno County, in north-western Arizona, and from Baja California Norte to the Vizcaino region. The habitat consists of coastal chaparral and montane dry shrubby grassland. Description The wingspan is 16–23 mm for ssp. ''maculata''. The forewings for this subspecies are white with two to twelve black spots. The hindwings are medium gray and lightly scaled. Subspecies ''extranea'' has a wingspan of 14–19 mm. The forewings are completely black, as are the hindwings, but these are more thinly scaled. Ecology The larvae feed exclusively on developing seeds of ''Hesperoyucca whipplei ''Hesperoyucca whipplei'' ( syn. Tegeticula Cassandra
''Tegeticula cassandra'' is a moth of the family Prodoxidae. It is found in the United States in north-central Florida and bordering areas of Georgia. The habitat consists of open pine and pine-oak forests and open grassy areas with oak scrub. ''T. cassandra'' is very closely related to ''Tegeticula intermedia'', a yucca moth that is found more so in the southwestern part of the United States. Both exhibit behavior that is considered cheating since neither pollinate their host yucca plants that they lay their eggs upon. The wingspan is 20–27 mm. The forewings are white and the hindwings are dark gray with a brown tinge. The larvae feed on ''Yucca filamentosa'', ''Yucca smalliana'', ''Yucca flaccida'' and possibly ''Yucca aloifolia ''Yucca aloifolia''Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 319. 1753
