Tatiana Galitzine
Princess Tatiana Petrovna Galitzine (born 16 August 1984) is an American-born architectural designer and UNICEF activist. Biography Princess Tatiana was born on 16 August 1984 in Santa Clara, California. She is the second of six children of Prince Peter Galitzine and Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria. She is a member of the House of Golitsyn, a Russian noble family with Lithuanian ancestry. Her mother, the daughter of Archduke Rudolf of Austria and Countess Xenia Czernichev-Besobrasov, is a member of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine. Princess Tatiana is a great-granddaughter of Charles I and Zita of Bourbon-Parma, the last Emperor and Empress of Austria. She was an older sister of Princess Maria Galitzine. Andrew Skurman (March 17, 1953) is an American architect. He is currently principal architect at Andrew Skurman Architects. Early life and education Skurman was born in Oceanside, New York in 1953. Skurman received his bachelor of architecture in 1976 from Cooper Union in New York. Skurman credits a visit as a teenager to Philip Johnson's office in the Seagram Building on Park Avenue as the deciding moment he wanted to become an architect. Skurman has cited Andrea Palladio, Juan Gris, Le Corbusier as influences and I.M. Pei and John Hejduk as early mentors. Golitsyn Family
The House of Golitsyn or Galitzine was one of the largest princely of the noble houses in the Tsardom of Russia and Russian Empire. Among them were boyars, warlords, diplomats, generals (the Mikhailovichs), stewards, chamberlains, the richest men of Russia (the Alexeyevichs), and provincial landlords (the Vasilyevichs). Since 1694 Bolshiye Vyazyomy was one of the ancestral estates of the Golitsyns, but many others, like Arkhangelskoye Palace and Dubrovitsy near Podolsk, were owned by different branches or members of the family. In the 1850s the Russian memoirist Filipp Vigel despaired: "So numerous are the Golitsyns that soon it will be impossible to mention any of them without the family tree at hand".
