Tarique Ahmed Siddique
Tarique Ahmed Siddique, rcds, psc is a retired major general of Bangladesh Army and the Defence and Security adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. Personal life Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique is the younger brother of Shafique Ahmed Siddique, the husband of Sheikh Rehana, the only surviving sister of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Career Siddique served in Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. From 17 November 2001 to 17 March 2002 he served as the Engineer in Chief of the army. He also served as Senior Instructor (Army) in Defense Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) Mirpur. Shafique Ahmed Siddique () is a Bangladeshi academic and professor of Dhaka University. He is the chairperson of the governing body of Dhaka Commerce College. He is the chairperson of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology and vice-chairperson of Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh. Early life Siddique was born on 27 August 1950. His father was Abu Siddique and mother was Shamsun Nahar Siddique. Colonel Shahid Uddin Khan was a retired Bangladesh Army officer who was forced into exile following a business dispute with Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Defence and Security adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina. He is living in the United Kingdom. He was sentenced to nine years imprisonment in a tax evasion case. 2004 Dhaka Grenade Attack
The 2004 Dhaka grenade attack took place at an anti-terrorism rally organised by Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue on 21 August 2004. The attack left 24 dead and more than 500 injured. The attack was carried out at 5:22 pm after Sheikh Hasina, the leader of opposition had finished addressing a crowd of 20,000 people from the back of a truck. The attacks targeted Awami League president Sheikh Hasina. Hasina was injured in the attack. Events and casualties Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina had been speaking at a public meeting on Bangabandhu Avenue, protesting blasts against the party's workers in Sylhet. Sheikh Rehana Siddiq (born 13 September 1957) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician. She is the younger sister of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the daughter of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She is also the mother of Tulip Siddiq, who is a British Labour Party politician and elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency.
