Tamme Stadium
Tamme Stadium ( et, Tamme staadion) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tartu, Estonia, located in the district of Tammelinn. First opened in 1932 and reaching its current look in 2011, the stadium is home to Tartu Tammeka and holds 1,638 people. History The original sports park was designed in 1928 by the architect Arnold Matteus. The work was completed in 1932 and in 1936, a grandstand was added. Since then the stadium has been used for games in the Estonian Football League. There have been numerous international athletic competitions held in the stadium, and also Estonian Song Festivals. Tamme Stadium was the home ground for Tartu Olümpia, who became the Estonian champions in 1940, after beating Tallinna Kalev 3–1 in the final round of the 1939–40 Estonian Football Championship season. Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia after the Northern European country's political and financial capital, Tallinn. Tartu has a population of 91,407 (as of 2021). Football Club Tartu Santos is an Estonian football club based in Tartu. Their home ground is Tartu Annelinna kunstmurustaadion. History In 2014 Santos, while competing in the third tier of Estonian football, reached the 2013–14 Estonian Cup final. Their opponent in the final was the reigning Estonian champion FC Levadia, already qualified for the Champions League, therefore Santos qualified for the 2014–15 UEFA Europa League as cup runner-up. Santos went out on aggregate 1–13 to Tromsø of Norway but scored their first ever goal in a European competition. 2012 Baltic Cup
The 2012 Baltic Cup was a football competition which was held on 1–3 June 2012 in Estonia. Format For the first time, Finland took part in the competition. As a result of this, the round-robin format was changed to knock-out tournament, as Latvia did not agree to play more than two matches. As a result of this, penalty shoot-outs were used to decide the winner if a match was drawn after 90 minutes. Stadiums Tamme Stadium in Tartu was used for the matches involving Estonia and Võru Stadium in Võru was the host for the other two matches. Tehvandi Stadium in Otepää and Viljandi linnastaadion in Viljandi were also to be used, but were unavailable for the time period. The Estonia national football team ( et, Eesti jalgpallikoondis) represents Estonia in international football matches and is controlled by the Estonian Football Association, the governing body for football in Estonia. Estonia's home ground is Lilleküla Stadium in Tallinn. Estonia's first match was held against Finland in 1920, being a 6–0 defeat. The team participated in the 1924 Olympic Games tournament, their only participation.
