THR.fm
THR (short for "TIME Highway Radio") is a defunct radio channel in Malaysia. It was the first private commercial radio station in the country, having based in the capital of Kuala Lumpur. The station was originally the initiative and for some time the flagship station of the conglomerate TIME Engineering Sdn Bhd, and as the name suggests the station was targeted at road and highway users with traffic reports and entertainment. It heralded a new era in the Malaysian broadcasting scene as it was the first station to provide an alternative to government-owned Radio Televisyen Malaysia radio stations and it marked the beginning of a stiff competition for the Malaysian English speaking audience, in turn affecting its own listenership as a whole. Best FM is both Malaysia's first private radio station (not the first commercial station, Time Highway Radio is the first), and the first to be based outside of Kuala Lumpur, in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. It began transmission in 1988 primarily as a station to suit the listening taste of the then Sultan of Johor, Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. It used to broadcast in both English and Malay, but fierce competition with other private stations broadcasting in English forced it to focus on the Malay speaking audience. Its commercialisation began when it extended its broadcast area to outside its native Johor state and the commencement of round-the-clock broadcast in 1996. Perak
Perak () is a state of Malaysia on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. Johor Corporation (JCorp) or Perbadanan Johor is a Malaysian government-linked company, formerly known as the "Johor State Economic Development Corporation" (JSEDC). TraXX FM is a 24/7 English-language radio station operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia. Established on 1 April 2005, it was previously known as the English Language Service in 1946, the Blue Network in 1959 and Radio 4 in 1993. The station's name "TraXX" (in use since 1 April 2005, as a part of re-branding of RTM's radio stations) is derived from the word 'Track' and 'XX', the later denoting the old tagline 'Xperience the Xcitement'. The station's initial tagline was 'Travel and Music' after re-branding to a tourism-oriented radio station. Johor Bahru (), colloquially referred to as JB, is the capital city of the state of Johor, Malaysia.
