TAC Cup Future Stars
''Future Stars'' (formerly TAC Cup Future Stars) is an Australian sports television program which focuses on the TAC Cup, under-18 Australian rules football competitions and young prospects of the AFL. It premiered on Sunday, 10 May 2009 at 1:00pm on GTV-9 in Melbourne, and features game highlights, interviews and analysis of the top prospects to be nominated in the AFL draft. Originally known as ''TAC Cup Future Stars,'' Future Stars was hosted by Craig Hutchison (2009-2014), whose production company, Crocmedia, is producing the show. Former player, Ben Dixon, and AFL talent scout, Kevin Sheehan were panellists from the start, with Terry Wallace joining in 2010. TAC Cup
The NAB League Boys (also referred to as simply the NAB League and formerly known as the TAC Cup) is an under-19 Australian rules football representative competition held in Australia. It is based on geographic regions throughout country Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne with each team representing twelve Victorian regions, while a thirteenth team from Tasmania was reintroduced in 2019. The competition is sponsored by National Australia Bank (NAB), having previously been sponsored by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) since its inception. The competition is one of the primary sources of recruitment for Australian Football League (AFL) clubs. Angela Pippos
Angela Athena Pippos (born 29 December 1969), is an Australian journalist, television/radio presenter, author, MC and public speaker, of Greek heritage. Biography Pippos completed an Honours degree in Politics at the University of Adelaide and began her career as a researcher and reporter with ABC Television in her hometown of Adelaide. After three years, she was lured across to ABC television news in Melbourne in 1997, even though the sports reporting position didn't fit in with her plans of becoming a political journalist. Within a few months she was presenting the sports segment at the '' ABC News Victoria'' desk on weekends and then was promoted to weeknights alongside Ian Henderson. She has also been a guest presenter on ABC Radio Melbourne, as well as a columnist and feature writer for the AFL Website and the Sunday Age. Terry Wallace
Terry Wallace (born 13 December 1958) is a former professional Australian rules football player and coach. As a player, his career spanned three VFL/AFL clubs; most notably Hawthorn where he played in three premierships. After one season with Richmond, he then played with Footscray Football Club where he earned two Best and Fairest awards. He also achieved one All-Australian selection when representing the VFA at the 1988 National Carnival. As coach, he took the Western Bulldogs from 15th in 1996 to 3rd when he featured in the documentary ''Year of the Dogs'' a position in which the club held in 1997 and 1998 during which he was named coach of the All-Australian team. Wallace's coaching style is considered to be innovative and he is credited with having started the modern practice of sides warming up on the field before a match. Ben Dixon (born 14 June 1977) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the selected by Hawthorn at pick number 77 as a fifth round selection in the 1994 national draft. Craig Hutchison (broadcaster)
Craig Hutchison (born 4 December 1974) is an Australian journalist, sports broadcaster and businessman. Based in Melbourne, Hutchison often covers AFL topics and breaking news stories relating to the code. Early life and career Hutchinson was born in Warragul, Victoria. He commenced his career as a journalist in 1994 as a cadet with the '' Herald Sun'' newspaper. The Australian Football League draft is the annual draft of unsigned players, especially new nominations, by Australian rules football teams that participate in the main competition of that sport, the Australian Football League (AFL). History When the competition was known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), the league introduced the first incarnation of a draft system in 1981, where teams had two selections each of interstate players determined by reverse finishing position order. GTV-9
GTV is a commercial television station in Melbourne, Australia, owned by the Nine Network. The station is currently based at studios at 717 Bourke Street, Docklands. History GTV-9 was amongst the first television stations to begin regular transmission in Australia. Test transmissions began on 27 September 1956, introduced by former 3DB radio announcer Geoff Corke, based at the Mount Dandenong transmitter, as the studios in Richmond were not yet ready. The station covered the 1956 Summer Olympics which Melbourne hosted., the 1956 Carols By Candlelight and the Davis Cup tennis as part of its test transmissions. The station was officially opened on 19 January 1957 by Victorian Governor Sir Dallas Brooks from the studios in Bendigo Street, Richmond.
